m2---you make that look like my quote by adding bfez1. That was taken from a cnn article.
Sorry bfez1 that wasn't the intention, but I should have added the reference.
In any event, whether they go in sooner or later, we're not going to know beforehand. Neither is anyone else, i.e., the enemy. There could be other side agreement issues that they're still working out first before the lead flies. All this inspection spectacle may be is a [time] deterrent for now; the main game may have already begun behind the scenes. Remember that all is not won, everytime, by things that go boom.

Iraqi Spokeman Said
streetsoldier wrote:Yes, Iraq SAID that...but the inspectors have yet to confirm it (for all we know, only the missile casings were torched; where are the engines, warheads and payloads? Inquiring minds want to know...)
On Monday, that although some Missiles have been dismantled(notice, the syntax? Not destroyed.)...that a resolution REQUIRED Video of the destruction process is to be provided on a daily basis,he said that the release of such Videos will NOT happen. His lame reasoning?'The sight of such an insult to our Nation is considered to be too 'Harsh' on the minds of the Iraqi people."Really.I suppose a ruthless Dictator that tortures and kills his own Family members and his people is not 'Harsh' on the minds of the Iraqi People? This notion is of course, absurd.
The reason is quite simply,as SS said. How or What is more important than a percieved quasi admission that these BANNED weapons are actually being destroyed.Period.Moreover,in 1993-4,the casings for the missles and launch tubes were to have been destroyed, the casings molds destroyed and the missiles rendered impotent. However, the Missile casings were infact rebuilt. The launch tubes, rebuilt. The Missiles, left in component packing to be rebuilt. This raised questions in my mind. How then, logically IF back in '93-4 the Al Samoud II issue was being adressed as a threat, then WHY the surprise anouncement by Blix a couple of weeks ago suddenly saying that infact, they are banned due to the +93nm range violation.By logic,it is obvious that back in '93-4 the UN KNEW that the Al Samouds were illegal.Hence, when Blix has pressure put on him,he reaches into the '93-4 archives and tries to make himself and his team appear as if they have made a major dsicovery recently, when infact,he merely dusted off old news.Emabarrassing,sure..because,the Al Samouds were to have been rendered impotent THEN.Still,Iraq was able to easily rebuild them with French,German and Swedish components...still being shipped in illegally BTW.Remember,Blix was up for a UN Contract renewal just last month, which he just signed.Interesting how the Al Samoud II issue was so incredibly timely!

Furthermore, less than 5% of the Missles have been supposedly destroyed/dismantled.At this rate,it would take the better part of a year to possibly render them useless. This is obvioulsy a failure of execution of a plan for the Missile destruction process. The UN should have had a disticnt and clear timetable beforehand. When is the spoonfeeding going to end? This is unacceptable.
