I remember some good old shows too; Amos and Andy, Car 54 Where Are You?, Highway Patrol, Rifleman and the list goes on and on :D

Those were in a time where you settled a disagreement with a fist fight after school instead of shooting everyone.

And you didn't have to live up north to see snow. It was on your TV constantly!

Did anyone else watch Get Smart?

"and ..... loving it!"

LOL. How true. Another living remote control here.

My favorite was Little House on the Prairie. I cried the day Mary got married, even though she was older than me.

I remember Get Smart. I loved the shoe phone. When we were kids we pretended our shoes were phones. LOL. The innocence in it all. I remember Adam-12 where they never shot their guns. Bonaza - The Rifleman and of course the Waltons.

And yes I remember having to endure watching Lawrence Welk - my parents would always watch it - I think this was the times that we would go outside and find something to do - or thats where I picked up my love for reading. I would go and read a book instead. LOL.

Who can forget All in The Family - what a scandal Archie Bunker caused.....

Memories oh Memories.

Oh yeah ticka, All in the Family - truly pioneering. They'll never be another one! Mighty prolific too, spinning off lotsa offspring sitcoms.

Of course we must hail the king ... "eh, what's up doc?" I lived for Bugs Bunny on Saturday mornings!

Great topic! I think everyone watched All in the Family, just to see what Archie would do next! Remember when you heard the toilet flush? Kids today would think, what's the big deal? LOL

Little House.....I cried when Mary finally went blind (you knew it was coming).....that was just so incredibly sad. Especially when they shipped her off to the School for the Blind.....then of course she met Adam and you were happy again. Sign of a great show when you can cry one minute, rant and rave and the next be so happy.

I can remember as a little kid watching the Flintstones with my entire family. At the end as Fred is pounding on the door, I would always wonder why he didn't just go in thru the window. My dad would just laugh. I also recall watching Gilligan's Island with the whole family too. And each week I'd be sure this was THE week they'd finally get off the island. I just couldn't understand when my dad would offer up his logic - "but Mary, if they got off the island, then the show would be over!".

That's what's missing today - entire families sitting down and watching one TV show - together. We'd pop the popcorn early, pour all the drinks, everyone would choose their favorite spot and then the show would start. Wow, memories!!!

Only show in recent memory I can think of that my family now watched together - when Who Wants to be a Millionaire was big. Everything just about stopped in our house when it was on. That was just a few short years ago? Hard to believe..... We thought Dan Doody was a riot and we felt just terrible for the poor man who lost out on the very first question, an obvious easy one. Something about a Mother Goose rhyme I think. Always wondered how that guy lived that down.

Isobar "Get Smart" is one of my favorite shows!!!! I watched it all the time when i was little on NIck at Night. I have to say it was neat watching all the cool gadgets and the evil doer's from Kaos? Chaos. Oh yeh and the day they had twins. My favorite was the beginning. Remember they tried to start a new version on network tv...it didn't work out though :(

What about the "teen idol" shows. I would wait each week to watch Bobby Sherman in Here Come the Brides,. Later it was David Cassidy in The Partridge Family :22: . Never was into Donny Osmond too much.
I used to hate Saturday nites cuz my parents always had to watch Mission Impossible  . Sunday evenings were good for me though, The Wonderful World of Disney and I think Flipper was on that nite too.

"air freshener" to spray around the house... :o

Some other notable shows where I learned many of life's lessons:

- Taxi (one of the most talented casts ever)
- Happy Days (The Fonz... 'nuff said!)
- Love Boat (Made everyone want to hop on a cruise)
- Solid Gold ;) (Taught me how to dance!)
- Today's Special (Jeff, Muffy, Sam, Penelope ;))
- A-Team (I Pity tha' foo!)
- Family Ties (Alex... 'nuff said!)
- Silver Spoons (The young Ricky Schroeder)
- Diffr'nt Strokes (Whatchu talkin' 'bout Willis?)
- Webster (the Menudo episode says it all)
- LA Law (Benny... ;))

man... I could just keep listing them all day... so much junk up in my head from years of sitting in front of the tube... *contented sigh*

Well, I thought I'd join in on this thread (thinking I was going to post something else).

But, yes, lo and behold ...
Yep, a lot of TV shows I grew up with ... now I do feel old.

I can relate to all of the above. Nobody mentioned Green Acres, Hogan's Heroes, McHale's Navy, and F-Troop!! Those were the days, when TV was actually funny. Maybe that's why I'm so warped.

Well now, when Sponge Bob Square Pants comes on, I sit down with the kids and watch it. And I must say that the humor in that show reminds me of the old shows mentioned above. Well, this is what my kids will remember some day when they tell stories about the old 2-dimensional TV's to the youngsters of the future.

Of course in another 50 years everyone will still be watching looney tunes.
