I will travel some distance... the farthest east would probably be Knoxville or Cincinnati... going out west wouldn't make much sense. I am game though.

Why not have everyone who thinks their town would be the perfect place for a Storm2k meet up, write a little bit about why that is the perfect place, including, easy air access, weather, events happening locally, hotel availability, location etc...and then let members take a vote, to narrow it down as to the places that most intrest them, and then take a final vote to choose the place. Then the members of the "host" location of choice can be instrumental in arranging a meet up?

Since we have such a large Gulf Coast population, seems like New Orleans would be fairly easy for all the Texans and Floridians to travel to. And it's not too bad for us Mid-Westerners. Sorry Northeast, you be flying.
Bill, How about Miss Mary and I carpool and come pick you up? With, of course, Miss Annabelle (she be a traveling 'ho).

Good idea Shannon! Let me be the first to vote down Evansville. No easy way to get here, and why would anyone want to anyway??

Nashville is a pretty neat place and centrally located. But I think I'm still nominating New Orleans. I'm going for the place most likely to have a good turnout.

The Galveston-Houston area might be good, but it would seriously depend upon where and when. You don't want to come here during Beach Party Weekend. However, I'd be willing to go up to Houston to get away from the craziness down here. Hotels up their rates over 300% during BPW. :o
Other times are good though.

Any time would be good for me, as long as it's in the summer and no later than August. I'll most likely be 18 by the time the picnic comes, so getting my dad's permission to go may not be a big issue. Ideally, it would be somewhere on the Gulf coast, but the Arizona crew and people in the NE will probably miss out. Perhaps Memphis? :-?

Well at least we did here in Puerto Rico our get-together of the PR members of S2K in august and it was a great meeting.Since I can't go to the conus for any picnic in the states I say to all of you good luck when you meet and have a safe trip for those who will travel from far distances to where the reunion will take place.

We have the Cincinnati/NKY Int'l airport here... if you have your own personal aircraft though, you can use the Lunken Muni Airport, closer to downtown...otherwise, the int'l airport is 15 minutes from me, about 10 minutes from downtown Cincy...hotels widely available unless it's a big Reds home weekend(i.e. Indians)or over labor day weekend(Riverfest, typically Sunday before LD, this year Sept. 5th)...weather can be hot, but 86 is avg. at the hottest point, early in July...as to the location, it is centrally located for most east of the MS river...most are within a 18 hour drive of Cincy...except, perhaps, S FL. Also, there are plenty of parks in Hamilton County, several here in NKY as well...and King's Island is about 30-45 minutes from downtown, along with the Beach waterpark.

Branson will be jam packed and awfully busy in July.

My vote remains Galveston. Theres a nice State park at the south end, that might make for a great pic nic location, there's the beach, great climate, lots of hotel options, and it seems the majority of folks that would really come are local, meaning TX and Gulf Coast and nearby areas. Houston is a great place to fly into for those who would fly. I think a beach is a good draw....something most of us do not have at our immediate disposal.
Perhaps someone could organize a summer meet up on the coast and a winter meet up up north somewhere, and that would give everyone a chance to either remain local, or travel to a different climate and location? So, those of us who want snow and don't get it, can go see it!
And ya'll yankees can come down south and bask in some hot southern sun...what do ya think?

You do have some valid points there, Furry.
There are a wide spectrum of hotels in differing price ranges and even an RV park for those who bring their home with them. Southwest flies into Hobby Airport (south Houston) for next to nothing compared to other airlines. I'm sure there are plenty of us who could provide transportation from and to the airport.
