Thread topics... Proper spelling and Capitalization
Moderator: S2k Moderators
I am aware of my misspellings, which are more typos than actually misspelling words. I oftentimes check those words I misspell, so the chances of me correcting "necessary," "condemns," "beneficial" {this one was fully aware of right after typing it incorrect} and "consuming" are quite high.
The only "someone" would be me... because no one else wants to and thinks it worth it.
I try my best like anyone else when posting messages here. Sorry you can't understand most of what I say. I can only say something so many ways to get my point across.
What is so funny, Anthony??
I suppose this poll was completely useless and should be deleted. Oh well; I tried again.

OMG....Tom, honey, you know I love you to death.....but don't you have anything better to do???? Your statistical analysis on this site is awesome...but don't you have any friends??? When was the last time you showered, and went outside into the sun???? I know you live in Q-TIP city, but you don't have to let it rub off on you!!!
Seriously, I commend your dedication to making S2K the best weather, no make that ANY message board online, but I'd rather have your great presence in chat, than slaving over posts by goofs like me!!

Now I feel like.....well you know.

I didn't know that. I just started reading some of your topics, finding them actually quite facinating. Sometimes the statistics on this board tell us alot about the kind of people we are. Maybe you could come up with some topic driven surveys, than see what generates from that!! I don't mean like "what's your favorite color.....". Something with some real value like...would you evacuate your home if ordered to do so because of a hurricane?
Tom, keep up the good work, and I want to come down to my old stomping grounds and take you out to dinner some time!!!!! How about Z's in Leesburg...is it still there??

Please don't feel like a heel, Grim. Thanks for your concern.
I appreciate you finding my topics quite facinating. Some do and a lot of others here either basically say they don't or it seems that way the way they respond to others in the discussion I am involved in.
I prefer the statistics I am doing now. I've been told they are worthwhile and are important for a number of reasons (some in the professional sense). Chad and Marshall obviously think their worthwhile/like me doing them and I thank them very much for that; and they feel the same to me with my attempt at doing them the best way that I can.
Those that follow them really enjoy them, if some actually click the Greetings & Stats link or "Coldfront's Stat" under "Storm2k" in the menu above.
I believe I saw Z's last time I was in Leesburg. No offense at all... but I probably wouldn't feel comfortable going out to eat or anywhere with you. My parents would be extremely suspicious, that's for sure. All of sudden going somewhere with someone I met online. Things would be different if I wasn't the way I am, but even still...

ColdFront77 wrote:If it isn't a statistic to you (Kiko) and apparently about 95 to 100 percent of the board agrees with you, what would you call it?
Would a Site Statistician job, [which I am for this site], not be associated with whatever you want to call this?
I can only do so if I have mod. powers in each and every forum; right now I only have access to change the topic titles in the Greetings & Stats Forum.
It's a janitor's job ColdFront, sorry for being blunt, but probably why no one else wants to do it.
As far as statistic? I still say no, unless you're going to compile them all and show who's the worst speller/typist. Kinda like a reverse spelling bee.

Then of course peeps would compete for the title and you'd end up with posts looking like this, with an award for 'License to Misspell':
Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a total mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm.
Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.
Now that's a joke, of course, but I'm curious if you guys with the AS have any problems reading that at all?

Kiko, fine call it a janitor's job all you want. I come up with the idea. I bring this up and get these negative responses, making me sound rediculous.
We are all unique, bringing up little to large thing to discuss.
I don't expect anyone to want to do it. I kindly brought up the idea and some of you make me sound ridiculous.

Why would someone with AS not being able to dechiper that?? If anything it would be easier because those of us with AS are more artistic/are more perspective.

Coldfront...I don't think it's a regular stat, but it could be a "special stat." Say you want to just do something fun, like how many of the topics posted for one certain day had everything spelled right or something on that line. I mean given that you are the site statistician, you can count it a stat if you want
. And as for you correcting them, I believe that if you have time to do it and you want to, it's fine by me. But don't think that you have too, I believe that most of the people on these boards can get the jist of the topics no matter how badly they're spelled, at least I hope so
haha

Just wanted to add my final 2 cents on the topic and regarding your reply.
No one is bashing you for your effort, however questioning or critiqueing it ? Yeah, sure, maybe, but that's part of natural life... and no one said they don't understand MOST OF WHAT YOU SAY..as you worded it. The only thing that prompted me to respond initially was to try and ask what the heck you were talking about. Reading the topic title did not make sense at all to me. Using the verb HAVING twice in the same sentence 3 words apart really confused the crap out of me and is probably gramatically very incorrect, but that is not the issue. If you actually read that topic sentence aloud several times, no matter how hard you try or where you place a possible needed comma, I and a couple others could not figure out what you were asking, and especially what it had to do with statistics. Hopefully you are clear on this, and my and everyone's intentions now.
In addition, if you OR anyone for that matter is asking to be in charge of something such as "CORRECTING ERRORS IN SPELLING", you/they need to practice what you preach always, it is not a selective process when to apply the effort to spell correctly and when not to. Whether you are just posting for fun or in charge of a chore, it is prudent to put the same amount of effort into getting things as right as possible at all times. Otherwise you are judged as careless and not fit for the position. This goes for any type of work or duty, not just SPELLING. It's just that SPELLING is the topic at hand here. A typo, such a reversing a letetr(like I just did with LETTER) or adding one too many or not enough letters by mistake(just as ben instead of been), is just as much a spelling error as messing it up entirely. On a test it would be graded as a WRONG answer. You cannot expect someone to believe you can fully accomplish the job if you make mistakes, as you did with those 4 words, but then claim later you would not have allowed the errors to occur had you been selected for the position to monitor spelling errors....In summary, the well intentioned idea over monitoring spelling erros in topic titles and having stats compiled about them was really not worth the trouble discussing........Hope that makes sense 'cuz' it does to me.....

Marshall, I was only curious. I understand your reasoning. If you want things the way they are... so be it.
I'm sorry I asked. It was on my mind so I asked. Too bad I couldn't of changed my mind being doing so.
Weather enthusiasts not being the best spellers has nothing to do with this suggestion.

Thanks.

I understand Ledzeplin. I try not to make grammatical errors. If I do, everyone here has to. I try my best like every single active member.
Thank you for your thoughts.

I know full well that it isn't a regular stat. I am thinking of it in such a very different way than all just about everyone of you.
I only figured having topic titles having a capilized letter and while I was at it make those misspelled (most of them are typos) would make those viewing them better. I got enough answers against this idea and I have no reason to disagree.
As I mentioned yesterday, I wouldn't of known if I didn't bring it up.
