I'm no weather expert, but this is a subject I can comment on.
Who knows why God allows calamity in some cases or why he might prevent it in others? I'm not that wise. It is foolish, however, to assume that all events are equal, that God must act the same way from one storm to the other.
For example, if one believes that God answered prayer in the case of Lili, who am I to claim otherwise? Who can prove that He did not? But does that mean that people didn't pray enough in the case of Audrey? Of course not! God is free to forestall a calamity in one case in answer to prayer and not do so in another, even when the faithful pray. God is not bound to our commands or wishes. He has a purpose for allowing and preventing calamity, and I, for one, am not privy to those reasons.
Does that make storm victims evil? That for some reason God is punishing them? That conclusion is far out of my reach, so I would be the fool if I made such a claim. This much I do know - "He maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." (Matthew 5:45) We would be wise to remember that.
Yes, at the end of the day, the atmosphere will determine the course of every storm. But remember, a greater power is over the atmosphere, and it spins and blows according to His will.

Can you imagine how bad it is to be in any natural disater or even a house fire where you lose everything?
I always find it funny when the media interviews someone whose house was spared from a natural disater while their neighbors were totally wiped out of everything they owned and they say they prayed it wouldn' t hit them and it worked.
While I look at the entire scene and feel very touched and saddened by the entire event for everyone. No one deserves total wipe out of all they have worked for, regardless of relegion.
I believe in the Lord but I think this simple minded approach of thinking some are spared while others were killed or destroyed is out to lunch.
,,,really its very selfish mind set, & just thank your lucky stars it wasn't your home and family. Shake in your boots, next time God may strike your home while leaving others untouched and there will be a next time on this very fluid planet.
This type of thinking belongs back when the vikings where clobbering guys on the head and pulling woman by the hair back to their cave.
You put your hand in a bees nest you will get stung at some point maybe several times, our coastline is the bees nest.
..its not nice to fool with mother nature.

Tragedy and blessing, darkness and light, sorrow and laughter...He clearly sees them as necessities to life and preparation for our afterlife.
In my time here on earth I have yet to see a time when suffering, despair, and misery have not sprouted seeds of hope, care, and encouragement.
Ours is not to try to understand why WCFL instead of ECFL or any other location, but to be gentle in our effort to nurture all the good that will come from this storm in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead.
And it will come.
