Update on Husband's condition

#24 Postby DaylilyDawn » Thu Sep 30, 2004 6:23 pm

Today I went to see my hubby at the hospital to find that he still hadn't been put in a burn center room but found out later he had been moved after we left . His left arm is somewhat swollen and he does also have a burn on his left thigh but it is not as bad as his hands. He will be staying in hospital until Mon, the 4th and they will make a determination then to see if he requires surgery. While we were there, he had a PT person come in and work with him for a few minutes on each hand and then a OT person came in and worked on him testing his legs to see if they were working. She got him up on his feet and had him walking a short distance down the hallway. At this point we left to go home . It is a long drive to Tampa for us and coming home it was rush hour traffic.

Update on Hubby

#25 Postby DaylilyDawn » Sun Oct 03, 2004 9:09 pm

Tonight when we went to see my husband the nurse told me he was having some chest pain and they were going to do a EKG on him. The test results showed that there was NOTHING WRONG with his heart. I think his pain may have been heartburn or a gas pain. He is still having some swelling in his hands and legs . They had trouble getting some blood drawn because of the swelling. I think his left hand may not be burned as bad as his right one because I saw pink fingertips on the left hand but not on the right. The right hand fingertips still look dark in color. Other wise he is in good spirits

Daylily...Glad to hear he is in good spirits. Healing takes some time...and there is plenty of pain associated with the burn healing process. Sounds like he may not be as badly hurt as originally thought, but still needs our prayers and blessings.

It is good to hear that he is slowly recovering, and even able to walk short distances. I'm continuing to pray here in KY.

DayLily, you obviously have the faith of many!!! You are being so strong in the face of a very difficult time. Keep up that faith and it will carry you through. Prayers for fast and complete healing for him and comfort and support for you continuing from W. Houston. Please remember to take care of yourself!! Ifyou don't then you can't be there for him.

Update on Hubby,
He may be coming home tomorrow afternoon and he does NOT Need surgery according to his doctor. He will be coming home with a walker but i think is is becasue of the stiffness in his back and legs due to falling backwards when the motor flashed.

My hubby is at home now. A nurse will be coming to the house to change the bandages twice a day until I learn how they have to be done and then I will do it for him. He has to avoid sunlight for some time now so that means he can't take grandson Kaleb to the park like he used to. Sunlight will make the burns feel like they are on fire again. We had to get a prescription for his pain medication filled because he was in some pain before we got home from the hospital. I want to thank you all for your prayers They are greatly appreciated.

From another electrician, I feel so bad for his accident. Unfortunately, we live with the possibility of this happening every day. My prayers are with him for a speedy recovery. Tell him to hang in there, us electricians are a tough bunch.

Update on burns

#39 Postby DaylilyDawn » Sat Oct 09, 2004 8:31 pm

My hubby is healing very well as of today. The nurse says everything looks good and there are no signs of any infection. The burn on his thigh is almost healed already. The redness in his hands is getting lighter in color and the heat I felt in the hand thru the bandages is getting less. His right hand was burned a little more severely than the left hand and it looks good also. The burn on his stomach is healing well also . So I am thankful for all of your prayers and will keep you all updated on his progress. :multi: :multi: :multi:
