My father was working late and my mama was exhausted and asked for my help to bring in the toys from the garage. I was nine and cried my self to sleep.

In my case, "Sister Mary Discipline" disenchanted us in first grade about Santa Claus... :grrr:

As for when I have kids, I have no intention to tell them anything about Santa. Christmas will be about Christ, and 100% about Christ as it is his day, not Santa's (I am offended when I hear Santa references made on Christ's day)

Do you know about the origin of Santa Claus, aka St. Nicholas?

"Santa Claus" comes to us by way of the Dutch "Sinter Klaas," which in turn, was a form of Saint Nicholas

Santa Claus is based on St. Nicholas, the patron saint of children (and some say charity, also).

BTW, I used to snoop at Christmas time too. But I never told my parents that I knew about "Santa Claus", because I could also see that they had a good time being "Santa Claus" for my sister and i.

I think I was about 7 or 8 and I kinda knew. I said to my mom, he isn't real is he? No answer. I said just tell me. Is he? Is he? Is he? Finally she said, Kelly do you REALLY want to know? I am like yes. So she told me. I don't remebering being mad at all or hurt. I was kinda like, un huh, yea I knew it, un huh. I thought I was so smart. And was a little relieved that I didn't have to pretend to my parents anymore.

I never really believed in Santa Claus...I've never had a Christmas tree before until this year.

I remember as a child, believing in Santa Claus... my Mom and Dad would send us across the street to our neighbors to play with our friends and have punch and cookies.

Then my Dad used to go back over to our house and put the presents under the tree... when we got back home we all thought Santa had been there and delivered them. :D Worked like a charm.

I don't recall the exact year or moment either, but one Christmas Eve (Santa arrived before midnight in our household, figure that one out), I saw my Grandpa getting into a Santa suit. I told my dad and he kept saying oh no, you were seeing things. I know what I saw! I tried saying no dad, you're wrong, if you think that guy's Santa, he's really your dad. Kids figure everyone believes....LOL I'm sure sometime after that I began to figure it all out. And by then I was snooping, finding my gifts. One year I found all of them, still unwrapped and opened each one. When Christmas came, I knew everything I was getting that year. No new surprises. I was pretty disappointed so I never snooped again!

When I was 4 (almost 5) I just "did the math" and figured out that Santa was impossible. I was really upset with my parents for lying to me.

I found out that Santa was real when I was about 3, I guess. I doubted it before that.

I think I doubted he was real again back in 1969 when I got my orders to go to Vietnam just before Christmas.

But lo and behold, I have not doubted his existence since my safe return.
