I just bought an E Machine T5026. It has a 160 gb hard drive 512 mb RAM and a 3.02 ghz Pentium 4 processor. Nothing is wrong with my old E Machine that i had for2 years previously; just felt like upgrading to a new machine
E Machines are generally less expensive than some other brands yet have most if not all of the same features. I was quite happy with the old one and im sure it will make a good starter system for someone on a limted budget.

Bill, the 4-year 24/7 package is pricey and then the Norton thing added, XP Professional and I've already added a few other things. The 4700 I'm customizing is getting mighty expensive fast! hmmm
I added: Dell Media Experience Deluxe for $20
80GB for $20
Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW w/dbl layer write capability for $119 (I want a CD burner but I didn't remember it being this much more.)
3.5 in Floppy Drive and 64MB Dell USB Memory Key for $59
Is Norton better than AVG?

Well, I've said this before and I'm usually in the minority here, but we have an iMac. My husband has all Macs at work. He buys them on the refurb lists, via Apple's website. In fact he bought his iPod on a refurb list. You save $ that way. We love our iMac! And another bonus - no virus worries either. Viruses are not created for Apple computers, since they make up only 4% of the market. Too much work to create a virus for mac users hubby says. And just to be sure, there is virus protection built right in, not an add on or monthly expense needed (brother-in-law has to pay $30 a month for this service for his computer).

I've never used an iMac. If you've used Windows, what are the main differences?
If I want the free upgrade with the flat panel monitor with Dell, I've got to decide today.

Oh gosh I can't help you with questions like that. My husband just loves apple computers though - very user friendly he says. And he owns a music related business so they're great for graphics, etc. But we have one at home and we never have trouble with it. My girls give it a workout doing research and papers for homework.
His brother got a computer/printer/fax machine all compatible from Best Buy. Spending a bundle. He has nothing but trouble. They've had so many viruses and he always calls upon Jim for help. Sometimes he can help, other times they have to have a tech person come out. After the last incident, his brother asked why he's had so much trouble and Jim wanted to say - you should have bought a Mac! But he didn't. Brother's wife wanted Windows, b/c they have it at her work. So we just keep our opinions to ourselves, knowing how much they've spent already. The salesman at BB even joked that day - where were you when I was in training? I could have used you for my first customers! Sigh....but you did ask. At least check out Macs, that's all I can say. Don't rule them out.

Can someone tell me what the difference is?
Single Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability [add $31 or $1/month1] Dell Recommended
Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW w/dbl layer write capability [add $60 or $2/month1]
Are they both burners and how do you burn a CD with just one drive?
