Left handed as is my son. It can be said that since the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body that only left handed people are in their right minds :D

I dont EVEN want to know what that refers to!

Actually, it's clean.

It refers to the direction of the threads on most screwed-on and/or twisted-on lids, knobs, and switches and which way to turn them (bottle tops, most one-handled faucets, oxygen tanks, etc). It alleviates the frustration of fighting with something that's on too tight, so that you know you're now accidentally making it even tighter.

I learned that term from a neighbor friend while living in Middletown, NY...he is a retired mechanic. :)

Another righty here. Interestingly, my predominant foot is my left. Does anyone know if that's the usual set-up -- or am I even weirder than I thought...?

Iunderstand that the left brain dominates the right side of the body and the right brain dominates the left side. Also you have left and right eye dominence. I wear glasses but my left eye is the dominate eye. Put your hands out in front of you and lay the fingers of one hand over the fingers of the other so thumbs meet . Form a smaller cicle opeing where thumbs are and look thru it with both eyes open. Notice what you are looking at and its position. Now close one eye and look again. If it appears that the item is moved the other eye is the dominant eye, Use that eye and close the non dominate eye and see if the item is still where it is when both eyes are open.

Right handed. I have trouble performing tasks with my left hand. I think thats why my right arm is stronger.

Does that mean those of us that are ambidextrous or somewhat ambidestrous are in and out of our right minds? :?:

left handed for almost everything, here.

There's another way to remember which way to turn things. Almost every threaded thing has "right handed" threads. This includes bolts, screws, and other threaded things.
Make a fist with your right hand, with the thumb sticking out. The thumb points in the direction you want the item to go (up to loosen, down to tighten, etc.), and your curled fingers are pointing the direction to turn the item to make it go in that direction. This is useful for screws in odd positions, or if you have to reach behind something to turn it, and the required direction is not intuitive.

the only (rare) exceptions are in machines where a part may tend to get unscrewed by a rotating component. In those cases, the parts at one end of a shaft may be right handed while the parts at the other end may be left handed, so that stuff doesn't come unscrewed.

The thrermostat in one of our bedrooms has the numbers obliterated. The only way I can remember which way to turn it is to make a fist with my left hand (it's an exception) thumb up to turn the heat up, thumb down to turn it down.

There - way more information than you bargained for.

I am mainly right-handed. Probably 70/30, so in some instances I consider myself ambidextrous.

My 2 boys are right handed and I think my daughter is going to be a lefty... Still kinda hard to tell... she is only 1.

You had that too!! I started writing Lefty, but my 'old fashioned' second grade teacher slapped my wrist for writing left handed...

As for left/right... Highly ambidextrous. Write with both hands, however right is better. Eat with left.

I am able to make some pool shots left-handed that would otherwise be impossible right-handed. It really comes in handy during a close game. :D
