Brent,

I like James' 'Bama accent! 8-) He's from Mobile

Has always been neat to me to hear different accents, dialects and drawls! :)

The discards tanks and machinery is sad though. They'll all have to be very careful.....guess they could pull off a Friends' spoof if someone gets stung! Did you see that episode, where Chandler has to relieve himself on Monica, to lesson her pain? Yup, apparently in an emergency situation, there's something in urine that deadens the pain from a jellyfish sting!

Mary,

I saw that first aid technique used in an episode of the "Lost" series one time.

The NYC firefighter's accent reminds me of Boston Rob's accent!

Looks like this season is going to be a cluster. @#$% for both teams, one gets it together with the right idea to just take the fire and then *poof* they tump the boat over....(did anybody see a wave hit it???? that's what someone said) and the others couldn't even sit the same way in the boat to row...geeze.....will look forward to next week.

Noticed the Alabama guy was loving on the girls when the good looking Jonathan didn't get picked......taking up the slack...hehehe

Isn't Coby the one that said he was gay.......but he would kick anybody's a$$ in the previews? and ya'll are right, dissing Angie will come back to haunt him if they are both around when they combine teams.

I definitely don't like Coby so far.....can't wait to see him gone. Unfortunately (for me), he'll probably stick around a long, long time.

My babe this season is definitely Jennifer....you go girl!

About contestants being gay or not. Last time around, we were wrong about Twilla. And then Amy and Scout turned out to be gay! So we were way off base. You can take the time to read bio's. That's how I knew Amy and Scout were. But Twilla isn't. Just shows that sometimes we are too quick to put people into categories! I thought Coby was gay, but who knows. Time will tell. Let's just say he's male. And who knows about the others....and now I will cheat. Their bio's tell a lot!

Have to look up who Jennifer is!

And all I could think about last night was Jeff Probst's personal life. Is he still dating Julie from the last Survivor? LOL

Mary

PS - almost forgot, I watched Wanda, Johnathan and Jolanda on the CBS morning show today. Right away Wanda broke into a song. Johnathan just looked over at her and sighed. He's probably thinking - I don't want to be lumped in with her!!! LOL Wanda said something to the effect that of course the producers showed only the part where she was singing. The rest of the time she was quiet and rowing. Sure, we buy that.....

Keep an eye out for Ian (the dolphin boy) (the guy who made it to the beach first). He's originally from the Pittsburgh area and is a Penn State Graduate. (Homecoming King)

Since I'm originally from West Virginia, I can say this without sounding like I'm bragging!!! WATCH OUT FOR THOSE PITTSBURGH CONTESTANTS - We've already had two winners from here. Must be something in the water.

Yes... according to internet gossip, they are. Remember: Palau was filmed in November and ended just before the Vanuatu finale(around December 11th).

I just want to say that if people think I dislike Coby for being gay, that's not it. I don't know if he's gay or not, and while I'm not gay, I don't want to criticize him if he is gay. I know some people who are gay and are really happy with it, and it doesn't bother me.

Why I don't like Coby: I don't like him so far based on what we saw of him last night. He made a supposed pact at first with Angie but picked Caryn over her (even though I kinda thought he would pick Caryn). Also, I guess I'd have to know more about this, but did he ever try to talk to Jonathan? If he did and Jonathan just was just shy or something, fine, but if Coby didn't, that sorta rubs the wrong way. I know it's a backstabbing game, but if I would want to know everyone before making a decision like that.

To put it short, I think he's a bit of a jerk so far, but we'll see. I do give him credit for having a decent knowledge of the game so far, though.

If anyone missed the premiere or just wants to watch it again, CBS is re-airing it tonight at 9pm ET/PT. This is a last minute change(probably due to the very high ratings on Thursday).

Brent - thanks for that reminder. I may watch again if I have time. Just to acquaint myself with this group. Andrew92, I understand where you're coming from. It doesn't matter to me what anyone's sexual preference is either. I was merely trying to say don't always trust your first instincts. Last time around, I didn't think I'd like Twilla. At all. And she turned out to be my favorite! Whodda thunk it? I thought Coby was being a jerk at times too. But no one else in my family got that impression. And remember, the producers interview these contestants for long periods of time, if 95% of what they say is nice and polite, they keep filming, hoping for that one minute of a put down or complaint. The producers want us to peg these people right off the bat - he's a jerk, she's an airhead, he's a hard worker, she's too bossy, he's too whiney, on and on.

I've learned not to declare who my fave is right away. I wait.

This Survivor looks interesting.

Wanda wishes she had another chance.....suggests Mark Burnett take all the too-quickly eliminated contestants from past Survivors and do a new Survivor with just them (oh wouldn't we all tune in for that!). The interviewer refers to the young guy who got eliminated with Wanda 'pretty boy Johnathan' - LOL!!!

TV Guide online.....

Survivor's Wanda Sings the Blues
by Angel Cohn

Music may soothe the savage beast, but Wanda Shirk's vocal stylings didn't please her fellow castaways on Survivor: Palau. Though the 55-year-old English teacher tried to charm everyone with her very own Survivor ditties, they decided she was out of line — not to mention out of tune. In an unhappy twist reminiscent of junior-high gym class, host Jeff Probst made the contestants split into two teams of nine; Wanda and pretty-boy Jonathan Libby didn't get picked. Here, Wanda tells TVGuide.com why she thinks she got cut so early.

TVGuide.com: Think you deserve a second shot on Survivor?
Wanda Shirk: I would do it again in a blink. In Vanuatu, Brook and Brady were a couple of awesome people who were eliminated unfairly because the older guys decided to get rid of them. Maybe sometime, instead of going through all this casting, Mark Burnett could go back and pick out the good people who didn't have a chance to play. I want very badly to be one of those people.

TVG: What would you do differently?
Wanda: Play the game! I didn't get to play. Getting picked by one individual is a whole different thing than a whole tribe writing down your name [at tribal council]. I don't think people would have voted against me. But [I was at a disadvantage] since guys had to pick girls and the [guys] that were picking were between 21 and 40. The oldest guy, [Tom,] was 15 years younger than I and he had the first pick; it was very logical for him to take Janu. She could shimmy herself up a coconut tree. But then the next person [James] was 33, and [men his age] are just not going to pick someone 20 years older. It doesn't make sense.

TVG: How did you prepare for the show?
Wanda: I trained so hard, like I was going into a marathon. I ran and swam. One of the casting people had told me that this was going to be a swimming Survivor. On a scale of one to ten in terms of swimming, where ten is lifeguard, you need to be at least a six. So I made sure I got myself well beyond the six. I could swim for miles. When I started, I could barely swim 25 yards.

TVG: Darn! We never got to see that.
Wanda: It was just hugely disappointing. It was good for me physically to find out that I could do things I never thought I could do. Scout in Vanuatu had [the idea] that older people can't do it; that is not necessarily true. Cathy in All-Stars was 50 and outswam Amber in a really tough swimming challenge. I wanted to be like Cathy. Before that, there was Lil and she was just stupid. I wanted to be both intelligent and strong.

TVG: Did your singing do you in?
Wanda: [Whispering] No. I know that they tried to portray that, but that is because they didn't want it to come out that they stocked the show with young models. They did. Out of the 20 people that were originally cast, they cut seven and put pretty people from modeling agencies in instead, so that they would have the eye candy. We found that out while we were there [in Palau]. When we asked [each other], "What did you do for your audition tape?" some of the people would say, "Oh, well, I didn't really do an audition tape."
TVG: Finally, could you sing me one of your songs?
Wanda: [To the tune of "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"] S-U-R-V-I-V-O-R, I am a Survivor/I can deal with any fate and be my own reviver/When the adventure's over, I'll be stronger, braver, wiser/S-U-R-V-I-V-O-R, I am a Survivor!

Attn. - I have a favorite now! Ian.

Spoiler alert.....

-

-

-

-

Ian's the one that dove down and retrieved the flint. He seems to have the attitude to make it. No complaining, no whining.

Caryn bugs me! I realize we're supposed to think she's just one big crab, b/c it was edited that way. Still, she doesn't seem like a team player to me.

Angie......what to say. Her tatoo's, piercings don't bother me. She seems like a nice girl. I just wish she'd wear MORE clothes.....b/c she's not a size 4! Her boob was hanging out in one shot tonight...it was blurred. Meanwhile I'm saying to my husband, she's not a 4, she's a 10. He said - I hate to break it to ya but she ain't a 10!!! I said no way....then I asked - wait, you're talking about rating her? LOL I was talking clothing sizes.....men/vs women. We sure think differently. He agreed though, she's not a 'babe' so wear swim suits that FIT her.

Okay, I'm done....

Wait, I like the Firefighter too. Still getting used to names. If anyone wants to cheat a bit, go here:

Caryn has GOT to go!! OMG... I wanted to kill her when she kept ENDLESSLY complaining about the stupid island? Yeah... they know they made a mistake, everyone admits it, now SHUT UP! Then she wanted a vote, WTH? They didn't have all freaking day, and everyone that spoke up(that I heard) said new beach, hindsight is so 20/20 isn't it?

Looks like Jeff gets injured somehow next week and Caryn and what's her face get into it...

You know what I wish Survivor would do is offer a 2 hour episode either for the first episode or second. After just an hour last week and one this week, I feel cheated. I was still trying to get to know names and a sense of which tribe I prefer and then it was over!

Just a thought.

Brent - glad you see you don't like Caryn either. She complained way too much! What did she think Survivor would be like?

Mary, Brent and other Survivor watchers...wouldn't you think that sea snake flesh would be poisonous to sharks as well...given that it is to humans?

Was sure hoping that Jeff could stay on with his tribe to help out James, Bobby Jon and Ibrehem in the strength and heavy work area for them!! Blasted renegade coconut had to get in Jeff's way to end up re-injuring his ankle! :grr:

I wanted to see Kim Lazybones get ousted! :grrr:

Shhhh - we haven't watched yet. Big homework night...Laura made us promise to record it and we're going to start it soon. I didn't even want to read what you posted Eric!!!!

But I did see the promo's about the sharks. Now I'm really interested in seeing what happened.

And I will say this again, why can't they throw us a 2 hour episode in the middle somewhere - just a bonus show. An hour isn't quite long enough and I always want more!
