to me there is nothing worse than Super Wal Mart, unless as a man you have gone in there for something specific. Find it, get it, and get the heck out. BUt....if you go with the Misses...its utter agony. It's bad enough you have to look at every bargain bra on the racks, then the panties, then the faded glory everything....then its on to the 25 isles of groceries.

No thanks...too big...takes tooo long to get in and out...and there always seems to be a language barrier at the check out counter.

Well, I do believe we have one of the most unorganized, often dirty, Wal-Mart's in this region. The aisles are so cluttered with weekly sale items, the shelves are stocked sky high. The aisles are very narrow too. When I heard we were getting one years ago, I thought oh good, I've been hearing so much about Wal-Marts. Well, I was disappointed right away. Turns out a teacher we know who grew up where they're based (which state is that?), won't even shop at this store. She said it's the worst she's ever seen. So when I hear you all saying Wal-Mart's the best, etc. I just think wow I'm missing out. I tell you, shopping at this one store is a challenge. If you get out of there with all the items on your list and in a good mood still, it's a miracle. I keep thinking one of these days they'll remodel it, make it cleaner, brighter, but no it's still the same. I envy you all! Oh well, what can you do? Maybe this one store takes a weekly beating.....from constant shoppers.

Can just picture you in this store j.......LOL

I prefer Target, for the reasons stated above - it's clean, organized, well laid out. You can zip in there and get your stuff, and get the heck out quick too. Unless you've got your kids along....

Sounds great. In many of the smaller NC towns Walmart's are where they get everything they need. At least they'll get more variety.

Mary... it does not matter about the clutter in those stores. We had the same type store you described and then BOOM here comes Super Wally. But guess what, this is supposed to be the BIGGEST Super Wally on the Gulf Coast and it is cluttered too. I just do not get it.

Well Patricia... if ya can't beat 'em join 'em. :o

I love my Super Walmart. So does my checkbook! It's also a social outing for me. I always run into someone I know and end up having a pleasant visit with them.

I'm a child of the 70's and wear Levi's all the time. Can't wait til my Walmart carries them!

I hate Walmart. I call it Hellmart. Whereever a Walmart goes in, the ma and pa type stores are run out of business. I never set foot in a Walmart and make the sign of the cross as I go by.

Walmarts are evil! Dont touch them!

Dont agree with that... It is there fault they are doing so good?? They should stop prospering because other people go out of buiesness the more they suceed? Thats fair?

They must be doing something right

We have a downtown that is full of stores and unlike many towns the downtown is thriving! :) If we can do it, others can too. It just takes extra work.

Yea, they are doing something right. (insert argument about general laziness and the idea that everything has to be done quick and cheap and the general downfall of America here)

But so did Sears at one point.

How the mighty have fallen.

I've become very dissapointed with Wal-Mart during the past year...which is sad, since it was once my favorite place to shop.

First, they began a policy that they would no longer give change for a dollar unless you purchased something :( Wal-Mart didn't become the largest retailer in America by treating good customers like criminals.

Last week I was angered when trying to utilize a Kodak photo machine...to enlarge some old photos.
After I spend ten minutes making the perfect images (portraits for Granny and two aunts in Tennessee), I'm informed "they can't sell me the photos" -- because they are copyrighted???

These were photos of Becky as a high school senior... NOT ONLY are they twenty years old, but one of them was taken by a friend of Becky's with his OWN photo equipment...at his home. The clueless idiots kept saying "if it looks professional, we can't sell it to you" :grrr: :grrr:

I try to explain I'm NOT TRYING to steal a friggin copyright...I'm trying to make something for my Granny's 90th birthday. After turning red in the face, I finally threw up my surrender flag and left..but not before telling both of them I'd never spend a penny having my photos developed in that store again (I ALMOST lost my religion

Just out of curosity, I drove to K-Mart to see what would happen: the ladies NEVER even looked at the photos I enlarged...and even went out of their way to save me money by cutting coupons of of a store flyer...that's what I call customer service..with a smile.

I ask them about the questionable photos..and their reply: number one, if I said it wasn't copyrighted, they took me at my word...as a gentleman, and an adult. Number two, regardless of copyrights, these photos were two decades old. If I wanted to obtain permission to copy or enlarge them...I have NO IDEA who was taking photos at Douglas County schools in 1983; or whether they are still in business.

Because of their photo customer service (or lack of courtesy) last Saturday, the Douglasville Wal-Mart lost several good, honest paying customers -- and K-Mart was the benificiery.

Keep it up Wal-Mart..we'll see someday if you are as cocky on the way down, as you were when you were on the way up....and especially are now :D

Yes, I just read this entire thread, Linda wanted to mention that Wal-Mart is now going begin selling Nike and Levi's; wanted to clear that up. They have been carrying jeans, but apparently not Levi's.

There are three supermarkets nearby, but my parents prefer Super Wal-Mart because of there lower prices. It was built just eights day after we moved to Florida.

Life is good here in my hood. I have two Starbucks, a Target Supercenter, a brand new Kohls, two Home Depots, a Lowes, a Michaels, a Great Indoors, an OfficeMax, four movie theaters, a Petsmart, Babies R Us, a Bed Bath and Beyond, a Best Buy, two Barnes and Nobles, a Crate and Barrel, and a zillion other fast food and specialty shops all within 8 minutes of my wallet. They can suck the bills out of there faster than an F5 tornada!

But..closest of all is that Super Walmart and Sam's Club combination that calls our name more often than the others. We've not had the experiences that Perry foretells as yet.

And besides...I keep wanting to catch that bouncing sunny ball in the act of knocking the numbers off those prices when I visit! Haven't seen it happen yet...but maybe next time.

Oh...I forgot the very best part of living in this hood.

Krispy Kreme...open 24 hours...is right in the middle of all those evil stores!

Aw geeeeesh Lindaloo, you REALLY know how to get my goat don't ya? "LOL!!"

I for one dispise WalMart with a purple passion! They have RUINED *small town America*, run untold numbers of *mom and pop* operations outta business, FORCE ppl into their stores by running other business' out of town, I should know, I worked for Bashas (an Az grocery chain) as a meat cutter/mgr for eons, Wally world came to town, within 2 months, Bashas couldn't handle the competition, shut the store down. I was lucky, I had my 20 years in, I took my retirement and RAN.....others weren't so lucky, Bas****s Grrrrrrrr!!!!!!
