Stop and ask, or keep on going?

Like Bill, I plan, take a map, and look for route numbers. In Pennsylvania, the road signs, route markings, etc. are pretty good. You can't drive for more than about 10 miles before coming upon a state highway with markings. Then refer to the map and you pretty much know where you are. I am much more likely to forget where I parked the car. Another reason to avoid Walmart.

You stole that quote from my wife!!When we were dating, she would often drive us to places neither of us had ever been, and get us completely lost. Ah, the good ol' days...
As for me, I have asked for directions a few times - but usually I will say "We will see a familiar road soon". Thankfully, we usually do.
When my sister moved back here from the East Coast (CT/Mass areas) I would do that to her so she would get used to the roads here in Oklahoma.
"You CANNOT get lost! Its a flippin' GRID!" I would tell her.
But
"Tecumseh Road DOES NOT go to Tecumseh!"
always an exception.

My wife and I were always at odds. She wanted me to stop and I wanted to keep going. We solved the problem. The newest car we bought has the GPS Nav system in it. Now we let the car tell me where to drive. It's like having 2 back seat drivers, but it is still better than stopping for directions. I find when I did stop, the people I asked knew less about where I was trying to go than I did!

A friend brought a hand held GPS to a party we had at our house a while back. We practiced walking from room to room to see how accurate it was. How's that for a boy-toy night! Four guys wandering around the house and watching a little box light up!
When he left, I added one to my Christmas list. Apparently Santa doesn't have a GPS, because he couldn't find the right house to leave that present at last year.
Humbug!
