Isn't this tournament a private and Anika received an invitation...therefore someone asked her to play, not that she went to their door begging to let her play. I don't see the problem in this particular situation. However, as a general rule they shouldn't play together.

Oh sorry... Umm... I would say that all the people who manage to log onto his website might not necessarily be viewers.

from what i understand, she qualified for the tournament from the women's tees, but is playing from the men's tees. i think if she qualified from the men's tee's, then everyone being equal, including the playing field, she should be allowed to play. Golf is one sport that women can compete with men on a fairly even playing level, its not like some three hundred pound linebacker is going to crush her. golf is an individual sport....at least that is how is was classified in the good ol days of high school pe, individual sports, and team sports.......so if she competes as an individual on an even playing field..........i don't really see the problem. she isn't asking to be treated any differently, than the men.....so again, what is the problem. i think its the augusta national good ol boys confederate south mentality that has set the stage for golf....and so be it, but it is very hard for a sport that is sponsored by all genders of the universe, corporations run by both men and women alike, that make it difficult to enforce "exclusions"........ but if a tournament stood on its own, without that kind of sponsorship, then they have every right to make it a men's only..... that is the difference between public and private.....what the men fail to realize is that a lot of the money they put in there pockets comes from women too.........well, i see i've rambled on a bit.....so the answer.....is yes, she should.....if you think she shouldn't, then no sponsors, no advertisers, no televising.......and then woops, no tournament, because how are the winners supposed to get paid??????

oh, and one last thing, 'cause i can't help myself, i play softball, and my husband plays, and you can ask almost any guy or girl which is more fun, the men's tourney's, the women's tourney's or the co-ed.....and everyone given the chance has more fun and finds the co-ed much more competetive.....

Annika did not qualify for the tournament at all. She got into the tournament on a "Sponsor's Exemption". The sponsor of the tournament usually has 6-8 slots that they can use to invite anyone they want.
I have no problem with women playing on the PGA tour. However, I do have a problem with Annika playing this week-end. If women want to play on the PGA tour they should have to qualify just like any males does. Go to "Q School" and earn their PGA tour card. If the ladies want to compete then do so under the same circumstances as the rest of the tour!

OK ...I admit it..I'm impressed by our "newest" (k)member's comments and reasoning...but I stand by my vote. Some things are just sacred to a man...and I think the ladies could let us have this one all for ourselves.
Now as far as co-ed company type bru ha ha's..I love them! What man wouldn't enjoy a woman in shorts and a tee jumping and running??
In regards to who logs on to O'reilly's site? I would have to say the percentage that go to his site but don't watch his show has got to be miniscule. So where is the 35% coming from?
I will contend that if you have never played golf, you might be on that 35% side...maybe.

I think that it would be neat to have a tournament that combines both men and women. I don't see why that couldn't happen and still keep the other tournaments separate.
If Annika was invited to play, then to me that's a different story. However, if it was demanded that a woman be allowed to play in a men's tournament, then like Rainstorm said, mens should be allowed to play in the women's tournaments.

Doesn't matter to me whether Annika wants to play in a men's golf tournament. All I said was, it doesn't make much sense to have only one female playing with a whole fleet of males.
I don't know why that would be fair in the whole scheme of things.
