We lost a special member of our family today
Moderator: S2k Moderators
Johnathan - I'm so sorry for your loss. I am very sad for both you and Tony. You were wonderful parents to Marra - I understand perfectly, as Stephanie said. Our dog Hope is my full fledged third daughter I say. Somedays I feel as though I gave birth to her, she is so devoted to me (sometimes more than my own kids!). And her hair color is the same as Jim's (he's a redhead). People joke - hey Jim, you finally had one with your hair color. But pets do become your children and I understand even more why in your case (I mean that as delicately as I can, and with utmost respect). If this helps any, I think you did the right thing. Marra was suffering.
Prayers and hugs coming both your ways.

Jonathan, I know what you guys are going through being devasted when I lost my cat Bonzo after 19 years. Having never had any children of my own, now Rattboy is my only child and I can't imagine how it must feel to lose such a special member of your family. I will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers. Marra sounded like a very special kitty. At least her suffering is over and she is at peace.

Oh Stooge - how awful. I would have been crying my eyes out. I'm still a cat lover, but owning a Golden now, I'm half cat, half dog lover now. Can't own a cat, since my oldest daughter is highly allergic to them. And get this, she loves cats too. Nothing compares to when a cat curls up in your lap and purrs away. I joke my Golden would be perfect, if only she would purr. She thinks she's a lapdog, at 80 lbs. I do sit on the floor, legs spread wide, so she thinks she's in my lap. She's really more on the carpet. First time I said if only she purred, my family wanted to disown me.

I feel the same way about my Yorkie; Lacey. I had her since she was 6 weeks old. And now she is 13. I love her like my child. I know that our time is limited. She got diagnosed with chronic kidney failure in a week or 2 before Easter. The only thing that is keeping her alive is her fluid shots 3 times a week from the vets. She was almost on death's door. And now she seems back to her old self. I will never be prepared for the time she dies. And I will cry like a baby when it finally happens. Another dog will never replace her. As I type this, she is on the side of me begging for my waffle.

That's what happened with my cat Derby. His kidneys slowly failed him over a span of 2 years. We ended up putting him to sleep about a year and a half ago when he just got too week. We had to keep giving him fluids weekly as well.
I'm sure your Yorkie loved that waffle!

I know she is happy where she is and we will see her again someday. Tony says thank you, he is amazed at the replies. May God bless all of You.(((HUGS)))
She is and you will!

I had a gray Tabby with white paws named Mittens when I was in pre-school and one night she went into heat and we let her out to go find a Tom...she never came back...we all figured she may have gotten hit by a car on a busy road near our neighborhood.
