Kevin posted an apology on TWC this morning. For those of you that don't have access it is posted below along with my reply. Hopefully this will put an end to this episode!

This is an apology for past actions.

Now, not everyone may agree on my motives for post this apology, but I feel it is time to bring some closure to what has been a long tirade with S2K that has occasionally brought itself where it doesn't belong--this message boards.

Marshall (aka MFdolphin) wanted me to make a public apology for my actions, as of yesterday. He told me through email that he would post all of our AIM discussions (these are not pleasant!) on the messsage boards and, "Let the community decide." If Marshall wants to post our discussions on here, then that will be his business. Note to Marshall: You won't gain anything for doing this. Our AIM discussions are the exact same thing as what was on these boards. Note to anyone who reads this: Aren't you glad I kept the arguments with Marshall going through email and AIM? I wasn't going to allow my feud between Marshall and S2K get on the boards. It did at times, but I tried to keep it to a minimum. This ISN'T AN APOLOGY TO PLEASE MARSHALL. Rather, I feel some closure is needed here, as I stated above. It is time to begin a "new phase" as far as message boards go for me. I would have never thought that all of this was going to happen when I started posting on these boards back in early 2002. If I would have known that flaming IS infectious (it got the best of me), then I would have seriously reconsidered joining these boards. On to the apologies:

I am sorry for bringing the website issue back up. The truth is, I wasn't even with TWW or SC when all of that junk took place. When I joined the team and heard about the website issue, I felt that it was necessary to get back at S2K for what the circumstances were. Honestly, Marshall and Chad were right on this one. I didn't even know what the whole damn deal was with the website. I did, however, come out with the flame-thrower in full gear.

Cycloneye, we've made up debts for the whole accusations thing that took place a little while back. If another apology is well, then here it is: I'm sorry for making accusations against Luis. I still think that there was a period of time where he was perhaps copying from other sources, but honestly, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCUE LUIS OF COPYING SOURCES THROUGHOUT INTERNET WEATHER COMMUNITY. THERE IS SIMPLY NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO BLAME HIM, COPIED FORECASTS OR NOT. Once again, I had the flame-thrower out and running full torch.

I am sorry for slapping the crud on S2K yesterday. FWIW, I also took a shot at posters on this board who thought that the shear in the BOC was low. I felt it was necessary to point this out, so I did. In that process I disrupted the boards yet again. I am sorry about yesterday's mudslinging directed towards S2K. I started the big mess.

Note to Marshall: Don't call me immature anymore. I may be 15, but I'm not the only person on this message board who flames people. Most people in the online weather community could be (more or less) guilty of flaming, regardless of age.

This is also important...
Note to Jason and Rob: The forecasting team stuff is over for me. I've had enough of it. The Reasons:
1. Sopomore year is going to be hard. We've discussed this on AIM before.
2. The truth is: I started flaming A HELL OF A LOT MORE when I started this forecasting team garbage. It all started with MGC and the "ENSO Wars".
I also emailed Barometer Bob a few weeks back, and his opinion on internet forecasting teams was that they caused fighting amongst posters who would normally be good friends. I don't know why it does, but it's like the posters who are members of forecasting teams are more inclined to defend their opinions with a nasty tone. In my honest opinion, the only way to gain credibility on the Internet MB community is to discuss the weather. THIS BRINGS ME TO ANOTHER POINT:

For anyone else who has (or is on) an amateur forecasting team, don't push your products on people. DISCUSS THE WEATHER. Barometer Bob is constantly talking about that. The more I think about it, the more he is right. What is an individual poster says the same thing as the big, bad forecasting team does? The team may just flame the little guy who likes to sit back and watch the weather. So discuss the weather, don't push the amount page views or the popularity of your forecasting team.

To sum it up: I'm am off of IWIC. Jason or Rob, if one of you reads this, I'd like to let you know that we can discuss this more on AIM. But I will not deviate from my conclusion: I'm done with internet forecasting teams. I thought about the consequences long and hard before going to sleep last night, and had a very quick change of heart. I feel great now that I have posted this stuff on here. I let it all out. From now on, I will sit back and make informed guesses about tropical cyclones. To be honest, I hate updating a website everyday. Why do you think so many fail? People can't keep up with them. It is more fun to sit back and make well-educated guesses, and only when needed. I don't keep claiming that piddly, low-amplitude tropical waves will develop. I only want to gauge their development potential. I have no desire to watch that everyday. If it was in a career, that would be fine. Not only do I not have the time to do that, but I have no desire to watch every single little thing. It makes no sense.

So, there is my apology. And my true feelings. Any comments/questions/additions that anyone would like to make are welcome.

Have a good day,
Kevin Budd

Kevin, I appreciate your apology for your actions yesterday. Bashing and flame attacks are an unfortunate practise on message boards in general these days and there is just no call for it. People can disagree and discuss things without resorting to these tactics. The internet is a great place for all of us to learn about the weather. For that to happen, people need to ask questions, make mistakes and yet feel free to participate in the discussions. When they get flamed for it, the questions and therefore the learning stops. A lot of this is enabled due to the anonimity of the internet. People don't feel they are accountalble for their actions therefore they don't apply the same restraint they would in a face to face conversation. A sad state of affairs IMO.

As far as the issue between you, me and STORM2K. I will be happy to discuss it in private. As far as yesterday, I accept your apology on behalf of our board members. There is no need to post the AIM discussions now. The only reason I would have done so would have been to clear the record, since you have done so there is no need. The issue between you and Luis is entirely up to the two of you.

I personally hate to see anyone who loves watching and learning about tropical weather leave the community. And I hope that once things valm down I hope you'll reconsider and stay as an active and responsible member of the net. You obviously have a passion and have worked to develop a good understanding of various weather factors. It would be a loss not to pursue your passion and help others learn as well.

Thanks again for clearing the air! Maturity comes with time. We all have or will live through that process. You took a big step down that path today. Let's all get on with the weather! :-)

I've been offline for about 12 hours or so and just now saw this topic. Kids home now for summer break - I can't wrestle the computer away from them....(those darn Sims games). Anyway, first of all....

Linda - so sorry to see you were banned now too. Have to say I'm not surprised. Sorry for you though - hurts a little bit doesn't it? Sting is more like it. Like a slap in the face. I could go on but I knew what I was doing posting a link for Storm2K. I didn't taunt TWC to ban me, but I'm not surprised to see my access rights gone. I always shake my head at that message that pops up, when you try to read the boards there - "some" of your access rights have been terminated. Or something like that. But oh, you can get your local forecast - woohoo!!! I have wxunderground for that.....don't need ya Weather Channel.

Marshall - your reply to Kevin was very nice. Good going. I really don't know Kevin but it is disappointing to know he was bashing Storm2K over there. How can anyone bash this site? Unless it's a banned member here....and you have to do quite a lot of damage here to be banned. That said, again I would think TWC has to wonder just what all this fuss is about Storm2K. LOL!!!

And I agree, this bashing could actually be a good thing - we are the competition folks!!! Makes me feel great.

Finally, Bill - you said it so well and so simply. I don't give a rat's a** either about TWC.

And now on with Storm2K. If all these Weather Channel topics get deleted, that's just fine with me! We can vent a day or two, and then move on. To an even better Storm2K Website!

Yes it does sting a bit, but that is okay, who needs them. What I am mad at most of all is how those folks over there abuse their power, especially Johnboy. You give someone a little bit of power and BOOM it goes straight to their heads.

In typical style they allowed the bashing post to stay all day yesterday but when a retraction was posted this morning they quickly deleted both threads. I guess they have their own agenda when it comes to STORM2K.

Oh well! On with our board and with the season! :-)

Linda - update on JohnAdmin. He's gone too, no longer in charge of the message boards. Now I hear posts directly from the Admin. say just that - Admin. - no name behind or in front of it. I joked last week that Hal the computer is now in charge (2001 Space Odyssey movie).......sure seems like someone with very little PR skills is in charge.

Man, I didn't even know this all this was going on. I haven't been banned from TWC but I rarely go there. I think the last time I went was because of a post or comment about Chad and storm2k that I read about here so I went and made a comment about what a great site this is. I also posted links to here a few times but it's been awhile.

Welcome back Lindaloo....I was wondering where you'd been!!
