Here in Dallas, UPN and WB (and FOX) all work together as underdogs. I see The Simpsons aired equally as much on all three of them.

I guess merging UPN and WB would streamline the operating costs while putting the best of each network together onto one channel. I kind of liked having all that extra airtime on WB though - Cartoon Network exported alot of their programming to them.

The only shows I used to watch on those channels were: Buffy and 7th Heaven. Don't watch either network now.

My guess is that they came up with that because it's CBS working together with Warner Brothers. Hence, (C)BS + (W)B = CW.

Buffy is still on the air? But aren't they reruns? Wasn't the show already finalized? So those actors won't actually be out of jobs. :)

Seing that the local WB Affiliate in Dallas (KDAF Channel 33) will become the new CW Network, KTXA Channel 21 will once again go back as an independent channel after 10 years with UPN.

It will be interesting to see which shows they keep. Some of them are really kind of cheesy on the WB and UPN, but others are not too bad. The WB was part of my line-up when I only had very basic cable ( 14 channels) so I ended up tuning into some of those shows when ABC and CBS didn't have a whole lot going on.

E!'s "The Soup" has listed the CW Network's programs as follows:

"Moesha's Creek"
"Reba Hates Chris"
"The Gilmore Girlfriends"

and...

"America's Next Top Geek"

We never got the WB here, every once in a blue moon one of the Fox channels would carry some of their coverage. I saw 1 episode of the Star Trek with the lady captain, can't even think of her name now and have seen very very few of the newest Start Trek and I am a FAN of Star Trek...not exactly a Trekkie, but pretty close!!!!

I'm glad I read on because my son would have a rip roaring hissy fit if I told him Smallville wasn't going to come on again. He also watches some other show right after Smallville and we have to tape them for him while he is at college and he watches when he comes home on the weekends....wow be us if it doesn't tape them...just kidding but it does get disappointed.

After September 5, 2005; KDAF WB 33 will become a CW affiliate, KTXA UPN 21 will go back to being an independent station after 10 years with UPN, and KDFI TV 27 (sister station of KDFW Fox 4) will be a new My Network TV affiliate and renamed KDFI My27.

All the mentioned stations above will retain their call letters.

This may have been said but how can this be BREAKING NEWS when we have known about it for a couple of months now? I understand that the WB and UPN will combine forces.
There was even a "RUMOR" that 7th Heaven would be back for 1 more year on the new network. There was also a "RUMOR" that 7th Heaven was gonna do a spinoff for the new network. I just wish the one more season rumor was true, especially since Lucy is pregnant again.

I believe that on May 18, the CW network is going to announce their fall line-up.
