Wow, thanks so much everyone for your replies. I think I'll pass on this liquid product, sounds harsh as I think Loren pointed out. But if this problem keeps up, maybe I'll have to try it.
Went to sleep two nights in a row with a bunch of bandaids on. Takes about 15 minutes to put them all on, but it's worth it. Other option is sleeping with a very thick layer of vaseline or aquaphour on, with my hands hung over the side of the bed (so as to not gunk up our down comforter, which isn't easy to just toss in the washer and dryer!).
I've joked that I wish I could just put my hands in a vat of vaseline while I'm sleeping, just dunking them in and leaving them there!
I've had this problem for over 30 years now. Female topic content alert, men you might want to stop reading - I've also long suspected the cracks showing up, being awful to clear up and then magically disappearing the next morning, seems to be hormone or cycle related? It's embarrassing, b/c you'll be out in public and not be aware your hand is bleeding, people will glance at your hand or finger and then you'll look down too, dang a crack opened up again. I hate this problem!
I think I'll also jot down the anti crack creams some of you mentioned too. Might as well try them, I have nothing to lose!
Thanks again.
Mary
