His wife is really my boss no matter what he thinks. She is here and that is all that matters!

Hi Linda. Sounds like he has some BIGGER problems in his life than just one employee who couldn't meet his needs.

If he is the prime stockholder (source of money and decision-making) for the company, I'd say that larger changes than just him quitting will follow along. Just keep an ear to the rail through his wife and be supportive of her and try to help keep things going in the meantime. But in a family business, when decisions like that are made on the spot, they are symptoms of more crazy stuff yet to come.

Good luck with that one, and keep us posted.

Thanks for the advice and those kind words.

There is alot more to the story of the owner than I can disclose here. Although a few close friends of mine here on S2K know what I am talking about. That company has been through the wringer. His wife (Kathi, who I really consider my boss) and I worked our behinds off to get it where it is because of his poor decisions. Then the owner wants to merge with another company. That lasted about 2 months. The other company was not stable and they almost took us down with them. We tried to tell him not to do that, but he knew better than two women (yeah, one of those. ). But, we managed to stabilize the business again. The only positive thing to come out of that was we gained about 6 close friends. The drivers and the manager went to another towing company. We stay in contact and back each other up. I miss the other secretary. I did not want her there at first but then she grew on me. I sure miss that "Hagatha"

Well, he wanted to do something stupid again and we stopped him from doing it. So, his answer was to quit. Let him continue on with his whiskey, while we grow. We did without him for a year and a day. Another 10 and a day will not hurt our feelings any, Kathi included.

george_r_1961 has met Kathi and this unique group. :D She had just met him and she bought him lunch. :D
