We take at least two short or one long vacation every year. Usually more. Like CajunMama I'm self-employed, but in my case I am lucky enough to have assembled a group of employees that run the place very well when I'm gone, with just a daily phone call to "put out fires". Mrs. Alum is an attorney and continues to bill some time when we're on vacation. Doing a minimal amount of work while on vacation allows us both to take a lot of time off.

Isn't it nice? We too are business owners....and we too have a GREAT bunch of emplyoyees, fortunatly we don't have to call and put out fires.
