I cannot conceive of anything more demeaning than this new "sport"; yes, prostitutes are the "targets", by choice, and well-paid, BUT...it's also known that most "call girls" came from sexually abusive homes, and this sort of thing only affirms their low sense of self-esteem, regardless of monetary compensation.
As to Miss Mary speaking of some "hunting clubs", let me assure her that this is not the norm; here in the Bootheel of Missouri, many people hunt whitetails for subsistence to get them through the winter. The five poorest counties, with the lowest educational level per capita and lowest income per capita in this state are in the Bootheel...people do what they have to, just to "get by".

Bill - hunting I know is wildly accepted. And I guess I don't have a problem with that. Just glad hubby's not into it. What I have a problem with are people exploiting animals for enjoyment - dog fighting, circus, etc.
Just recently I was channel surfing and came upon a segment on Animal Planet. At an outdoor arena, a very large black bear was chained in the middle of the floor. Then several attack dogs were set loose on this bear. Now this bear could not defend itself, could not get away. I won't apologize for my shock, my tears (yes I cried). I also couldn't stay with this program, although in Animal Planet's defense, you could tell it was filmed incognito - at a very poor angle. I'm sure the channel was displaying how terribly unfair we treat animals and hopefully someone can put a stop to this. Have no idea where this was filmed. I can't even bring myself to frequent the Zoo these days. I look into the leopard's, cheeta's eyes and they just pace back and forth, repeatedly in their cages. That just breaks my heart. If we're saving an endangered species, then maybe it's okay. If we're just caging up animals that should be in the wild, then I'm not for it. And again, I'm not going to apologize for my opinions. I tell my family all the time, if I were single, no kids boy could I get all caught up with PETA. I'm done.

Point well taken, Miss Mary..."bear-baiting", etc. have been illegal in this country since the early 20th Century, thanks to organizations such as the ASPCA, but they still persist in some areas, and I pray that these are identified and eradicated with all dispatch!
The "hunting clubs" I referred to are "ranches" on which exotic aminals are kept within easy reach for "hunting", just to provide those who pay for the privilege a "trophy".
As a former hunter, I disdain even the common use of "salt licks" to ensure that game will frequent a given area for hunting...in this sense, I'm a "dinosaur", in that I was a "stalker"...walking slowly and silently, watching, listening, waiting...placing myself on a much more "equal ground" with my potential quarry.
As to PETA, "A horse is a pig is a rabbit is a boy"? I don't THINK so!

Big discussion on local talk radio about this on Wednesday. Some got into the "consenting adults" mode and some into the "nothing surprises me any more mode." The responses here mirror those on the radio.
I'm not surprised that sexual entrepreneurs would come up with this idea...heck, they are surely making plenty of money too.
And I am not so sure that such games haven't been around over the decades and centuries...but my disappointment is in knowing that such revelry can be paraded about openly while our efforts to keep honor for our flag and sanctity in our God keep eroding by the year.
I fear for a country that does not find ways to uphold its values among its people.

Cool idea?
While I don't necessarily feel sympathy for any party involved here, this kind of activity reinforces agreesive behavior in men who the article describes being the submissive kind. It teaches them that they can be violent and can lead them associating violence with erotica. That is a dangerous cycle.

I don't know how but I had not heard about this. I kept waiting for the punch line. :o
I agree with others about the dangerous effects from this but also, it's hard to believe that a woman would prance around naked while perverted men hunt her down and shoot her with paintballs. I cannot imagine participating in such a ridiculous thing while I'm still alive!
Even nuttier is the goofball who will fork over $5000 - $10,000 to participate. How pathetic!

There are some sick people in the world, southerngale...and women who are already well "indoctrinated" in being victims, who will place themselves at hazard for rent and subsistence.
Thomas Jefferson said it best; "I tremble for my Country when I reflect that God is just, and that His wrath cannot be forever constrained."

I'm so glad my sister got away from him too Lindaloo. It's been 19 years since their divorce, and she's still afraid of him. I didn't know about much of the abuse until 1995...over 11 years later. Becky didn't tell me...she didn't want to visit me on death row
I'm sorry for what your sister went through Perry. IMO, men like that should be behind bars....for good. Unfortunately, they are usually released, if ever even arrested, and they find another victim. One of my friends was married to a loser who wanted to control her every move while he did whatever he wanted. He had a horrible temper and yet could be as sweet as can be and fool people. I stayed with her little girl one night after one of his temper fits sent my friend to the hospital where she got stitches in her head. I'll never forget the sight of her bloody head and clothes. She ended up divorcing him but this scumbag is probably treating another woman the same way.
This kind of place could easily breed that kind of man.

Perry - I meant to respond to Becky's past marriage yesterday. I'm so glad she got away from him too! You're such a devoted brother to her! I had a lousy first husband, no physical violence though, thankfully. But my brother sat him down a few times and warned him to never hurt me. Trouble was, ex thought hurt meant physical violence I think, so he thought nothing of emotional turmoil (adultery, moving in with his girlfriend, while we were still married). So boy I can relate to some of what Becky went thru, possibly. I had a constant knot in my stomach almost our entire marriage. Brothers can see things sisters just can't sometimes. Even if you didn't know all about it back then, just knowing you were a support to Becky, I'm sure brought her comfort.

Lindaloo wrote:Well that figures. They can keep that kind of stuff in Nevada.
I heard a lot of discussion about the legality of this "sport" yesterday and the point was raised on some talk show that, even though prostitution is legal in Nevada, it still is governed by zoning laws and licensing requirements. If they are doing something illegal, then going public like they have chosen to do, will surely doom them.
Then again...this is not prostitution until they prove that sex is being paid for. So.....who knows? It's legal to be naked...its legal to play paint ball, but when you put the 2 together do you have "sex"?
Perhaps we should ask Slick Willy to define this for us.
