This is truly tragic, as many have said the Amish are such peaceful people. They do not bother anyone.

I found 2 local Lancaster, PA articles for the tragedy:

If the US devised a terror alert scale for all the schools nationwide, the level would be RED now. That's how unsafe the schools are when there's one school shooting after another after another after another...

It's bad enough that a high school I graduated from is going through 2 bomb threats every 3 weeks, I would hate to think if this escalates to another tragedy.

Apparently it was a guy who acted this out for revenge for something that happened TWENTY YEARS ago.

The 32 year old gunman sent all the boys out of the room and then proceeded to shoot at the girls. It appears that 6 have died and 3 others are in critical condition. Such a horrific story, I don't know what kind of sick person could do something like this.

Apparently he had a grudge against little girls(relationship perhaps?) I don't understand why he did it now though...

They've lowered the death toll to 3, with 7 injured.

Ditto that. However, I guess someone had to leave because, being an Amish school, they probably didn't have a phone in the school. Amish, of course, do use phones and some have them. But it's not as common for them as for "the English" (non-Amish).

Amish and Mennonites -- the most peaceful wonderful people you will ever meet. I can't imagine what drove someone to do this, especially as an act of revenge.

This thing is nuts. I am having a hard time trying to figure out why someone would do something like this. This country is going nuts.

This is just sickening. I cannot for the life of me understand (or try to) what is wrong with these people. :grrr:

Being in the education business I used to try to get my sister to send her kids to school instead of home education. (I won't go into my various reasons right now) Now - I'm glad she does have them at home. I am seriously thinking of retiring from the school system and all this is making my decision easier and easier.

God help those poor children and their families.

Yeah, I'm from PA and the Amish are a very peaceful people. This is indeed a very sad day... I am having problems thinking or watching anything about this cause it is extremely disturbing. Why people do these things is beyond me. Prayers are going out to them tonight.

I can't understand these either.. I also agree that if there was a color coded system for "school incidents" or "domestic terrorism" it'd be at Code red because there have been too many school shootings recently.

My big question is.. when will there be another Columbine..? smaller scaled shootings led up to Columbine, so lets see what happens..

prayers for the people in and around Lancaster especially the victims and their families..

I heard the shooter made all the boys leave and hurt and killed the girls.
The media need to lay off the incidents. The copy cats are doing a lot of harm.

If I was him, I would've just take it like a grain of sand instead of making it a homicide-suicidal hate event.

The little girls were lined up along the blackboard with their feet bound by wire ties, and then they were killed “execution-style” - what a sick, disgusting excuse for a human being! :grr:

I just can't imagine what they were going through. This is the 3rd deadly school shooting in less than a week! :(
