My kids LOVE thunderstorms. They have spent their summers camping on islands in the middle of a lake in the adirondacks, with many good thunderstorms. We have been stuck on a boat at the other end of the lake waiting them out, not able to get back to our site. We have had damage to our campsite, hail, and very strong winds while in tents. We have had neighbors tents blown right off the campsite and into the water. You should just see my kids faces light up when there is hail!

The best one was the beautiful day we were heading out down the lake for some swimming in a sandy bay and saw this "really cool" cloud coming over the mountain.....we joked that it looked like the enterprise! Um.....can you say supercell? Tornado warnings? Oops! That was a stuck at the other end of the lake day!!!

My kids aren't scared of storms, but they don't like loud thunder waking them up. I don't mind thunderstorms, but you mention tornadoes and I freak out!!

I sleep right through them, so my only fear is a Tornado coming through while I'm asleep, which around here we get maybe 3 a year within 100 miles but thats still a risk.
