My dad died in '73 when I was 5 and my mom died in '97. Christmases were hard without him, especially those first few years. He died the day before Thanksgiving so that made every holiday season difficult on my mom.

This will be my grandmother's first Christmas without my grandfather (his birthday was December 20th). And her mother (my great-grandmother) died on Christmas eve about 10 years ago. :(

Holidays aren't really "family" times for me anymore. And don't get me wrong...I want to keep my grandmother for as long as she's strong enough to stay with us and at the rate she's going, it will be another 20 years. But I look forward to finding someone to start new holiday traditions with here in Galveston.
