I've noticed that it is the same high DMA cities that get the most attention... when Bill Keneely is on... that's better... he at least mentions the suburbs or smaller cities with some geographical point.

IMO its pretty much a 'grooming' place... if ATL isnt' mentioned several dozen times in a two hour block then its not a perfect set.

I've noticed too that the weekend crew is one for 4 hour blocks.... Kevin & Kristina for 4 boring hours...no thanks!

Hey senorpepr... just saw your reply. Maybe I was harsh and the more correct term should be Professional. Stephanie may be super smart and formally educated, but when she is on a show that has a segment called "boob of the week" it is hard to take her seriously.

TWC used to be about the weather. Now it is about how the weather affects our lifestyles. The "dumbing down" of the channel has gotten out of control.

I miss the days when you'd get John Hope or Steve Lyons EVERY hour.

I miss the days when I knew the hourly schedule.

I miss the days when they got down to buisness instead of eye candy.

I miss the days when I got my forecast on the 8's of EVERY hour.

I miss the days of not having to hear "Apply directly to the forehead" more then the forecast.

Okay... now I agree with your comments full-heartedly. Professionalism, when it comes to professional arenas (such as weather) should be at its highest.

The worst time is weekday mornings. It's a contest of who can get their hair the blondest. Don't bother chicks, Marshall Seese will always be lighter than you!

Besides not giving any real meteorological information, some other pet peeves:

* Leading in with a catchy title and action movie-type music. "Devastation in Dixie!"

* "Here's the forecast for 'YOUR' Tuesday." I don't know why that just irks me, but it's very prevalent among OCMs, not just TWC.

But on a positive note (it helps to looks on the bright side of everything), I do like some of their Forecast Earth pieces.

Then they give me a forecast for a place 1200 miles away.

At least TWC doesn't offer Miss Cleo's ads anymore...or (who WAS that girl whose geographic knowledge rivalled your local 3-year-olds?).

IMHO, the whole thing crashed in the summer of '96.

It would be hilarious if they put Jim Cantore in that commercial.

On Wednesday Night's "Colbert Report" episode, Stephen Colbert has put The Weather Channel on the watch list.

On the geography front you are talking about Lisa Mozer who also once forecast a high of 80 degrees for Flagstaff in FEBRUARY.

I remember Lisa Moser. If I remember this correctly, she got the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans mixed up. More than once!

Guess that's a huge no-no at TWC? LOL

I so rarely tune into TWC these days but usually when I do, I'm irked about something, within 5 minutes. Either the constant mention of Atlanta or all the introductions. By now, we know who you all are! This is and this that. How about here is your forecast? Mainly I am more irked by Alexandra's attire/hairstyle. She often looks like she's going out night clubbing, dressed too casual. She seriously needs a makeover! Do you all remember what Kristin Dodd used to look like (heavier, hair cut into a boring short style)? She can change, 180. (But I also thought she looked fine before her dramatic weight loss, longer hairstyle).

Okay, my little TWC rant is now over. he he

Guess this topic evoked shades of former TWC boards' topics (yes they still go on and on about OCM's clothing!).

Lisa Mozer also referred to the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of Georgia! :P

Just out of curiosity, does anyone still post "over there"? I do, once in a blue moon, mainly to blast them for their inaccurate, undependable forecasts! :ggreen:

I watch Local on the 8's but that's about it. I often put on TWC if I want to take a nap.

God I hated that lady! She would always say...the "North Carolina Area" or the "Kansas Area"...it was quite funny :)

I misspelled Lisa's name.....LOL Mozer, not Moser. Anyway, yes watching a segment with her giving wx updates - what a joke they were - was always comical, to say the very least. Each and every time she would stumble over pronunciations, enunciations, geography. The only thing she got correct was her name - "I'm Lisa Mozer".

It was like watching say Bill Murray or David Letterman give the wx!

Now I kind of miss that inaccuracy. Imagine that!

Wonder where she works now - behind the camera, no doubt.

I remember once when she was talking about Hurricane Audrey. She referred to the hurricane as Andre, not once but several times.
