4:20 is a fairly new term, at least around here. I was a teenager when I heard people starting to use that term. Hey its 4:20, another words hey its time to go smoke a fatty. lol. I don't think it has nothing to do with why Columbine happened on that day, just coincidence IMO.

Some little *** is going to pull something Friday, but it'll be as harmless as a fire alarm. Because of the Columbine anniversary and the Virginia Tech tragedy, opportunistic kids will be phoning in bomb threats across the country to get school cancelled on 4/20.

There were dozens of bomb threats at Nimitz High School in Irving (where I graduated from) almost every month.

It is natural to be apprensive after the events that unfolded at VT. The works of an insane mind can have a lasting effect on a nations psyche. That is why the insane story lines in movies like Silence of the Lambs has the effect it does on audiences.

Just before World War II HG Wells "War of the Worlds" was played over national radio in the US. There was national outcry from many who had undergone tremendous emotional stress listening to the news.

While events like COlumbine and VT are horrific tragedies, it is my humble opinion that too much airtime is given to the perpetrators of the events and not enough time given to the fallen. This guy's picture should NOT be plastered all over the place; he's getting the infamy and attention he wanted. Enough already.

I agree. He sent that package to NBC to get attention. Let the FBI go over it and get the info they need for their investigation, but don't show any more of it. Today, I've been changing the channel whenever I see it come on. I won't give him airtime at our house. Besides, the kids are so young, they don't really understand. We've explained to them as best as we can in terms they can understand. But, the less they see and hear about it, the better.

Klebold and Harris originally picked 4/19, the anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing and Waco, to blow up the school. Thankfully, the bombs did not explode (if they did, then hundreds could've been killed). So the next morning they went in with guns. The original plan had nothing to do with 4/20 or Hitler's birthday.

EDIT: My bad, just rechecked Wiki article. The bomb was also planted on 4/20, and not 4/19. The original plan was to do this 4/19, but was delayed.

What scares me most is copycats. I sure hope the terrorists don't get off on this with their suicide bombers, etc.

That's the first time for me as well hearing this.

I'm from the 70's too and there were no code words to hide "let's smoke a j".
