It got a fair amount of play on Houston local TV stations. The murder rate jumped sharply after the Katrina refugees arrived. But, judging from news reports, many, if not most, of the 'additional' victims are also from New Orleans.

Sorry Ed, I assumed that was your personal opinion...I know what they say about assuming, so I don't know why I still do it! Thank you for the link to the article.

You can expect pay scales to be 80-90% of the Midwest here. Not sure how it would compare to where you live. In healthcare, though, a lot closer to the same.

Also, we have a brand new hospital opening up in 2008 just about 5 miles from us in Scottsdale. Perhaps that is the one you are referring to.

If it's "The Cancer Treatment Center of America" that'll be the one :D

Even if the salary is 20% less than here, I checked out what the cost of living would be (http://cgi.money.cnn.com/tools/costofli ... &x=47&y=15)

If you move from Philadelphia PA to Phoenix AZ...

Groceries will cost: 21.213% less
Housing will cost: 28.15% less
Utilities will cost: 20.733% less
Transportation will cost: 5.258% less
Healthcare will cost: 10.595% less

Not too bad. Got a lot of thinking to do, they'll be sending out personnel from corporate in late August to talk to us so I'll get more info then.

Thanks fro the help!!! :D

You need to take a visit here. Look around for three days. Get a feel for the city in August or September. Still very hot here then. Be happy to give you some pointers if you decide to fly out.

I read the news release, and the new CTCA buliding is going up on the west side of town near 101 and Thomas Road. That's within easy distance to downtown, and you are only a stone's throw away from Cardinals Stadium and the Glendale Arena which means....everything in that area is NEW! New shopping, New roads, New hospitals,...a very respectable part of town. Housing is less expensive there too.

Worth looking at if the job opportunity is a serious one.
