And my first impression of Joel was strong, hard working but perhaps not so bright. I was wrong! Which means I shouldn't form my early on opinions of these Survivors! LOL
What do you all think about the 2 fans' camps, 3 vs 7 (now 6)? That's very telling.
Tribal was great. Mike looked so smug but when Mary's votes starting coming in, the look on his face was priceless. I said outloud - you're going to be cold tonight, you won't have Mary to cuddle with! LOL
Great episode.

After only seeing last nights eposide, this season is going to be really good it looks like. The back stabbing is going to get real heavy real soon I beat. The challenge next week looks like all out war against the two tribes.
I loved the way they took our Mary. If the fans loose next week, I wouldnt be surprised to see Mike go next. I don't remember many of the fan's names yet since I missed last week. The 2 sets of couples on the favorites side need to watch there back, or else, they are going to start disappearing as well. I think the others see and know what happens and they won't let the 4 of them become a strong force.

I'm having trouble remembering their names, except for Chet and Kathy. Kathy just made a huge impression, from the get - go. Hard to forget her.
My favorite so far is the "Bon Jovi, in his prime" guy......those were Mike's words, correct? I know I don't like him!
I'm waiting for a favorite for me to jump out, from the favorities. And so far, it's probably Jonathan. It was going to be Ozzy but he's disappointed me. He needs to stay focused! What would Bobby Jon have done? LOL He would have said "Amanda who?".....seems Ozzy's new haircut (and dye job, too?), tank top have kinda gone to his head a bit. He's great at competitions though. I just wanted him to be the Ozzy from last time. At least Jonathan's the same. And Cirie, thank goodness!
And I can just say it once more, then I'll say it no mo'.......I miss Fairplay!

Survivor: Micronesia - Fans vs. Favorites
Episode Recap: The Sounds of Jungle Love
“With all due respect, I think you’re giving yourself too much credit.” I love it when Jeff gets feisty. He’s been so since episode one where he easily and repeatedly cut the dearly departed Johnny Fairplay down to size. Tonight this gentle barb was meant purely for Chet who – well, I’ll just say it – he choked during the immunity challenge and then tried to pass it off as if he were merely giving another tribe member a chance to play.
Chet better watch it. He, along with Kathy and Tracy, are already flailing about in quicksand in the eyes of the other, younger fans. I don’t recall ever seeing a tribe separate under two shelters as this one has. If Chet is any evidence, this sub-tribe of three is going to need to kick their game up a notch or the remaining seven tribe mates are going to eat them alive. Surprised as I am to say this, I would miss Kathy. It could just be that she won me over with her impersonation of Joel, but she seems like a rather funny and genuinely nice person.
See how first impressions can be wrong? Last week I found myself liking Mikey B. This week, not so much. I appreciate that he’s p-l-a-y-i-n-g the game, but he is overdoing it. I’ve replaced Mikey in my affections with Joel. How thrilled were you to see someone recognize the threat in Mikey and neutralize it? This is how the game is played! I will no longer be deceived by Joel’s passing resemblance to the mainplayers in the ABC series Cavemen. This man pulled a Cirie and single-handedly finessed the blindsided ouster of Mikey’s gal pal, Mary. Joel just may be the man to beat.
Over at the favorites camp Cirie is finally in the house and she has hooked up with Penner. Fabulous! These two ought to be entertaining to watch. I desperately hope that they make a final-two super-secret pact. Already they’re tossing out one-liners about the canoodling Amanda/Ozzy pairing as well as preparing to demolish the romantic foursome should James and Parvati prove to have a solid alliance with Amanda and Ozzy. (Ozmanda?)
This week, the favorites earned their designation by actually winning the immunity challenge. They sent Kathy to Exile Island, but the new twist had them sending Cirie alongside. This means that both tribes have the chance at the Hidden Immunity Idol. Cirie and Katy bonded as they trekked over the ocean and back again in search of… The thing is, due to a deliberate edit, we viewers have no idea if she and Kathy ever found the little sucker. This, of course, makes me thing that they did. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
To sum up: I like Joel. I like Kathy. I don’t like Mikey as much any more. Tribe Airai has splintered along age lines and there are hints of a power struggle in the making. Chet is seemingly growing a porn-stache. Erik’s shorts are short. Joel speaks of loyalty and deception. Ozzy has fallen hard for Amanda. Cirie doesn’t like it. Jonathan has secured Cirie as the fifth member of his alliance and James and Parvati are in la-la land. The tribes are tied with one win each. At this stage it could be anybody’s game, thus making it the perfect time to speculate. I put the question to you dear readers: Who will be the ultimate survivor, a fan or a favorite?

Survivor: Micronesia's First Fan to Leave Has "No Regrets"
by Nina Hämmerling Smith
After losing its first immunity challenge in last week's Survivor: Micronesia — Fans vs. Favorites (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET, CBS), the Airai tribe (that would be the fans) blindsided Mary Sartain, voting her out as a ploy to undermine Mikey B.'s power. The real-estate-company owner from Walnut Creek, California, talked about the division in her tribe, her short-lived alliance and how she found love thanks to her early departure.
TVGuide.com: It seems like we hardly got to know you. Were you shocked at being voted off so early?
Mary Sartain: Definitely; I was blindsided. I thought I'd get a little more time — I wasn't ready to go yet!
TVGuide.com: Your relationship with Mikey clearly did you in. In retrospect, do you regret having gotten close with him so quickly?
Mary: I really have no regrets; people are going to act the way they're programmed to act. No matter what, I think Joel would have been kind of paranoia-central anyways — he would have singled us out. He had a thing against Mikey B.; he thought he was going to gain too much control over the females on the team.
TVGuide.com: Joel came after you as part of his strategy to take control of Airai. Did you have any idea that he was so ambitious?
Mary: He's a controlling guy; he got very worried at the very beginning that his control was going to be taken away by Mikey B., and that was just too much for him to handle. He was a very forceful player.
TVGuide.com: You know how it goes in this game — very visible alliances are usually easy targets. So was it a strategic mistake to ally with Mikey?
Mary: In the beginning, I really didn't have so much of an alliance with Mikey B. as I did with the seven of us on the tribe. Basically, the three who kind of felt like they were outcasts — Tracy, Chet and Kathy — were saying, "Oh, Mikey B. and Mary are getting kind of close." They spread that around without me knowing, and I think just by default, everyone thought Mikey B. and I had the tightest alliance. But to be honest, an alliance of two people really isn't strong in a tribe of 10 people. Especially in the very beginning, it's not something that should be feared; it should be the weaker players who are going. And I'm a very strong player. If I would have gotten a chance to swim or do something physical in the challenge we lost, I think it would have been a different story.
TVGuide.com: Let's talk about the division in your tribe. Why did Chet, Kathleen and Tracy become segregated?
Mary: They basically did it to themselves; we never had anything against them. Kathy had all these crazy things that were coming out of her mouth. We kind of kept our distance from her; a lot of people were getting annoyed, Jason in particular. She paired herself with Tracy and Chet because they felt that they were the older crew and that we were ganging up against them. But that's not really how it would have gone down if they didn't step out of our tribe and build their own shelter.
TVGuide.com: You said Kathy was talking crazy — like what?
Mary: She was talking about boobs — about breast implants — and talking about Ami being a lesbian and Chet being gay, all these totally off-color things. She was trying too hard to single herself out.
TVGuide.com: Did it seem like strategy on her part?
Mary: I think she just doesn't really have an edit button; I don't think she played a strategic game. If she hadn't won the first immunity idol, it would have gone down very differently.
TVGuide.com: Well, that explains the Kathy situation; what about Chet and Tracy?
Mary: I think there were hard feelings because there wasn't a whole lot of work being done on their part; the rest of the crew was really working hard. Tracy is a developer, and she really didn't pitch in with the first shelter we built. When it collapsed, she was kind of like, "I told you so," and that rubbed some people the wrong way. It would have been nice for them to help out. Chet was pretty wiped out by the third or fourth day. I definitely thought we should have voted out Chet.
TVGuide.com: You weren't there for all that long, but what was your best experience?
Mary: Honestly, if I hadn't been voted off early, I wouldn't have met my new fiancé, Ryan [Opray] from Pearl Islands. I met him through another Survivor contestant. So all is not lost!
TVGuide.com: Who is your all-time favorite Survivor?
Mary: Obviously my fiancé, Ryan O.! I was hoping to be my favorite Survivor, but that didn't really happen

No-one's realising that Cirie is taking over the tribe. Ami picked up on that and voted for her, I noticed. Next week's explosion between Cirie and Jonathan will be very interesting. And over on the fans' side, does anyone think Kathy will ask to go back to Exile if they win reward next week? She does already have four clues anyway.

Yeah, I was struck that no one else picked up on that. Ami was a very smart player in her season(ironically in an all women's alliance, hell has truly frozen over this time

I don't like Cirie and I never have. Remember the first day of the season she was on before? Scared of LEAVES. I'll never forget that.

We always remember that about Cirie. Who in the heck is afraid of leaves? LOL We thought she was a goner last time but we grew to like her. But I think she made a big mistake last night. First off which 4 person alliance, siding with them and becoming 5, was a no brainer. Even if Jonathan was bugging the cra* out of her and pestering her. She should have realized she needed to hang with the older members! The choice was so obvious. So I don't think she's playing with a full deck here.
And to vote out Yau Man? That is just plain - WRONG!
And correct me if I'm wrong, didn't Cirie vote for someone else, and not Yau?

Re: Survivor: Micronesia
Hi Mary:
Cirie voted for Yau Man. According to the CBS Insider videos (on the CBS website), Yau Man and Jonathan voted for Parvati, Ami voted for Cirie, and everyone else (including Eliza) voted for Yau Man.
I wonder why they did not invite back Ian ("Dolphin Boy") from Palau. I wanted Tom to win that season, but I would have been OK with an Ian victory as well. I know that Tom said "no" and that they would not ask Bobby Jon back for a third time -- but I would have loved to have seen them as well. But I'm glad to see James again (Louisiana guy).
I really do not like Joel or Mikey B or Jason (nasty guys, imo). I hope they get voted off their tribe quickly.
And I'm really sad about Yau Man.
p.s.: Mary, Jonny Fairplay introduced Mary and Ryan O. (Ryan O was on Pearl Islands with JFP, I believe).

sfgal - wow, thanks for all the survivor inside scoop! I don't like Joel or Mikey B. either. If you'll recall Mike was quick to put labels on everyone. And you know when someone does that, their scene isn't cut. But fans like me don't like it either. So I'm with you on that one. Joel just thinks he's hot stuff, IMO.
Still sad about Yau Man.
I would have loved seeing Ian again. After recently watching the Palau season, with commentary too, so many of his funny comments come to mind. The "Gentleman's Agreemant" or the tears when Ian messed up. Or stepping down. Tom would say he was the older brother out there and Ian would say jokingly, it was like having a Grandfather out there. The comaraderie Tom, Ian, Caryn, Jenn and Katie had was great to see play out. And until I saw Bobby Jon pay with such determination, no one has been able to touch his approach (possibly Ozzy, although this time around I'm disappointed in that boy!)......
Keep that inside scoop coming!

Survivor: Micronesia's Nice Guy Finishes Early
by Nina Hämmerling Smith
Yau-Man Chan became the second favorite sent home on last week's Survivor: Micronesia — Fans vs. Favorites (Thursdays at 8 pm/ET, CBS) following a power play by alliance-hopping Cirie. Gracious and kind-spirited to the end, the 55-year-old chief technology officer for the University of California, Berkeley's College of Chemistry talked about the favorites' overconfidence, his run-in with Jonny Fairplay and Dreamz's broken promise back in Fiji.
TVGuide.com: First off, I have to admit I'm really disappointed — you were my favorite of the favorites!
Yau-Man Chan: Thank you. I was more disappointed to have to leave the show so early!
TVGuide.com: Why do you think Cirie was so determined to get you out?
Yau-Man: She had a change of mind. I thought we had an alliance going, and suddenly she went from a completely defensive position to offensive. She was the odd person out, caught between the two alliances [Yau-Man, Jonathan, Ami and Eliza vs. James, Parvati, Ozzy and Amanda], and we thought we had her. Not only did she not vote our way, she got her way and convinced people to vote me out. I did a lot to try to convince her, telling her that I could be an asset to her — I said I was willing to share the immunity idol with her if I found it. She probably thought that she and I were playing the same kind of game, not very physical. She felt sort of left out, like an afterthought to our alliance. But I thought that once we had her in, I could work with her very well.
TVGuide.com: Do you think that aligning yourself with Jonathan put a target on you?
Yau-Man: I didn't until that morning in the cave when Cirie and Jonathan had it out; that was when I realized, "Uh-oh, this is not working out." Cirie dragged out every dirty deed that Jonathan ever did in his Cook Islands series. I knew some of it, but during Cook Islands, most of the time I was out filming Fiji. I came back for the last two episodes, so I didn't know all the things she was accusing Jonathan of doing.
TVGuide.com: Was it a mistake for Malakal to vote you out so soon? You proved on Fiji that you're awesome during challenges.
Yau-Man: That's what I tried to convince Cirie, that I can be an asset. If you look at the coconut-toss challenge, I tossed in most of the coconuts! But she wouldn't budge. She felt that I was a threat, that my alliance with Jonathan was way too strong and she would always be an outsider.
TVGuide.com: What did you think of the romances between Ozzy and Amanda and between James and Parvati?
Yau-Man: I was very surprised that it took place so early and that they were so blatant about it. People who are coupled up in this game are dangerous. That was very weird. I thought it would be easy to vote one of them [Parvati or Amanda] out now and another the next time. When Jonny left, it was Parvati we were supposed to vote out.... She escaped that vote because Jonny decided to not want to play anymore.
TVGuide.com: Speaking of Jonny, he said that you bashed his face into the side of the boat to get the immunity idol in the first episode. Were you going for blood?
Yau-Man: It was totally, totally an accident! I don't think I even knocked him that hard. We were both diving for the idol. I really didn't knock him on the head.
TVGuide.com: Who do you see going far among the favorites?
Yau-Man: I would like to see Jonathan go far, and I got to like Ami, who's quite a nice person. And Ozzy is very nice — the guy is definitely very athletic. He's a fish! He moves as well in water as on land. During the challenges, I'm cheering for him.
TVGuide.com: What do you think of the fans? They seem pretty evenly matched to the favorites.
Yau-Man: I was very surprised that they did so well. The favorites were a little bit overconfident; we did very well in setting up our camp and finding food; we were living it up, but in the challenges we were too cocky.
TVGuide.com: How hard was Micronesia compared to Fiji?
Yau-Man: Mentally it was easier, because I was much more prepared for the hardship and everything that goes along with it. But physically it was harder, because the weather was horrible — the rain dumped on us every day, and everything was wet all the time. But we didn't have the snakes we had in Fiji!
TVGuide.com: I'd be remiss if I didn't ask you about Dreamz's broken oath to you on Fiji. You've always been very forgiving about that situation, but doesn't it still infuriate you?
Yau-Man: Well, no, I've gotten over that. I've tried to contact him; he has not contacted me back. I understand that he comes from a different life background than I and we have different worldviews on these things. [Laughs] I wish he had kept his promise, but he didn't, so what can I do?
TVGuide.com: I mean, it cost you not only a truck but, in all likelihood, a million dollars.
Yau-Man: It probably did.

Re: Survivor: Micronesia
Well that was DUMB voting off your strongest person when you're struggling against a more experienced tribe.
LOVED Ozzy finding the idol and Kathy being COMPLETELY and TOTALLY oblivious to it.

Finally watched the episode although I heard all about it!
Ozzy just dominated in this episode. This is the Ozzy that became one of our favorites. Kathy is just clueless! While Ozzy's off looking for food, she says she'll "try" to get a fire started.....LOL That was a priceless Survivor moment when Ozzy found the idol. Of course the fake one doesn't quite hold up to Yau-man's fake one, but hey, maybe someone else will be as dumb as Kathy is? he he Maybe she'll be sent back again and start looking, find it and think it's the real thing? LOL That would be hilarious.
I just don't get Chet. I've lost a lot of faith in this guy. To just sit around all day long....that is not right. So many fans would have loved to take his spot. Not me, mind you, I wouldn't last long out there, but you know there were many alternates just chomping at the bit hoping to get that call.......
Side Survivor note - did you all know what Survivor: Australian Outback's winner Tina was an alternate? And that she got the call to play right before it started? I thought that was an interesting Survivor trivia moment. She mentioned it either at the reunion or in commentary. Yes we've been renting past Survivor seasons from the library, we especially enjoy the commentaries, and the ones with Jeff are quite funny, in particular season 2 when everything was so new. He's so embarrassed at how unpolished he was!
So long Mikey B - won't miss ya!

LOL, yeah I know. Ironically enough I just watched the Australian finale the other day on YouTube and saw that fact.
I also have been watching Borneo again and it is so much... different. Jeff had to explain everything on every episode, he himself seemed so nervous, and there was no exile island, or hidden immunity idols, or even tribe shakeups(and the merge date was known ahead of time, which was totally weird).
