Now I know you're kidding.

China has 4 times our population and their people are for the most part extremely desperate. I don't think we could beat China. Remember too, they have nukes. If we were to somehow start gaining a lead on them in wartime it would be the end of the world.

That is a joke just like the last guy said. China would put up a very hard fight and China has a huge army waiting in the wings ready. I'm not sure if your joking or not but that statement is nonsense.

Nope. Today war is being fought on the ground like in Iraq and Afghanistan where things are getting worse for us :(

Lets get real guys..Give our military some credit...We have the most avanced military out there...Of corse losses would be high but less than a year China would surrender...If they even thought about using nukes China would be a no-mans land...

You cannot compare the war in Iraq with a war in China. Two totally different military scenarios.

People, remember, we ar ethe most powerful nation, with the 2 best air forces in the world (US Air Force and US Navy). War today is primarily fought from the air and we can devastate China without much problem

Exactly Derek, Yes they have many more people than we do, but we have air superiority which is the way wars are won. Maybe I am just biased being in the Air Force

Yeah, kinda like Iraq was going to be a cakewalk. Good luck with that.

If they even thought about using nukes China would be a no-mans land...

As would the rest of the world. If any one of the world's major powers uses nukes it's game over for everyone.

You sure about that? I do agree we would defeat them over time, but it would not be "relatively easy" and would make the mess in Iraq right now look like a picnic.

China is building an all brand new huge military. I think you're all discounting them way to easily.

There's a reason the president's "Axis of Evil" consists solely of small, weak countries. Our military sadly is not what it was 20 years ago, or even 10 for that matter.

Edited to add: And I don't mean th epeople. I have great respect for the folks in the military. But budget cuts have decimated our military power in the last decade.

And those same advances exist in China's military (heck, they BUILD much of the equipment for our military these days), with the further advantage of raw numbers. All funded by our lovely trade deficit.

Plus all that money we keep borrowing from China to fund the Iraq War they are probably using at least part of it for improving defense/military.

Let's deal with North Korea and Iran first before worrying about China. Boggling how some think that every potential conflict would be a "walk in the park"

That's a very sad thing to say about a place where our troops are dying and being seriously injured on a daily basis. Iraq has been more of a training ground for terrorists unfortunately. That it what the experts are saying. It has made the terrorism situation much much worse. Meanwhile, other threats like NK and Iran were ignored.

Where there may be problems with China and the U.S is with Taiwan which China says it's a province of them, while the U.S has said in the past that it would defend Taiwan from any Chinese invasion.
