Evacuation fees for Americans being helped to leave Lebanon will be waived, aides to two Republican senators tell CNN.
Okay... so they're being "waived" for them... but we all know that nothing is "free". Unless the actual carriers are doing the "waiving"... I got a funny feeling it's being "waived" right into the wallets and purses of the US taxpayer.

Doubt there is a shred of truth to this. Maybe we were a bit upset when Condi was told to stay home.
Have a feeling that Israel's phone is off the hook until they feel statisfied.

Arab press sources close to the Hizbullah say that residents of Tel Aviv will be given one hour to flee before the terrorist group launches a barrage of missiles at the city.
The unnamed sources are quoted by the Palestinian Authority-based news agency Ma'an as saying:
"The Lebanese resistance is preparing a retaliation parallel to Israel's military actions. Hassan Nasrallah will address the people of Tel Aviv and warn them to evacuate the city within one hour. As soon as the delay ends, hundreds of heavy missiles will start landing in the city, which has been divided into squares in order to let damage reach every inch of the city. An estimated 500 missiles are expected to land in Tel Aviv in a short period of time."

Not sure how credible it is though...

Thanks for the source Janice, I found the article on CNN's website.
This may spur a change in that old law, or maybe in a different time (non-election year) and different place, it will again be of little interest to most in the U.S.
"This is not anything that the State Department foresaw a day before it happened, much less Congress foreseeing a year or so in advance," said Ms. Pelosi. "The number of people involved here, the nature of the hostilities, are such that the urgency demands that these people be evacuated and they not have to pay their fare out."
Nancy Pelosi insinuates that the requirement for payment is delaying evacuations. That just isn't true, but it's great political fodder. And, travel warnings or not, it's ridiculous to make the case that people in Lebanon had any less foreknowledge of the need to get out, than do victims of, for example, a sudden, catastrophic earthquake, and that the lack of foreknowledge entitles them to a waiver of paying their transport.
I know what the Consul General personally went through in Grenada after Ivan. An award he received from American Citizens Overseas, a world-wide organization, for the year's outstanding U.S. Foreign Service Employee, stated:
"Thirty-six hours after Hurricane Ivan devastated Grenada, destroying or damaging 90% of the buildings on the island and killing 25 people, Bob was on the ground. Against a background of no water, electricity, roofs, or police, Bob drove through mobs of looters to reach Americans in hotels (with broken glass all over, holes in roofs and soaked furniture). Sleeping in a car the first night, and on a soaked floor the following nights, and surviving on MREs, Bob answered anxious phone calls and e-mails from American citizens concerned about their loved ones."
"During this chaotic period and amidst unbelievable devastation, Bob met with and consoled hundreds of dazed and shocked Americans. After first ensuring that everyone was well, Bob quickly worked to arrange fifteen charter flights which safely evacuated more than 600 Americans."
Every consular officer I've known is dedicated, top-notch, and hard-working. Unlike Ambassadors, they are not political appointees, and usually work for many years, through many presidencies. I recently had dinner with a long-time foreign service official who works in Washington now, interviewing people wanting to enter the foreign service. There are so many, she told me, they only hire about 8% of the qualified applicants, the cream of the crop.
My experience tells me that every effort is being made to SAFELY remove people from Lebanon. The enormity of the challenge of evacuation in Lebanon, with airstrikes, terrorists, and damaged infrastructure, and the huge volume of Americans there, is nearly unimaginable. To hear these people criticized this way, especially to make some political points for some politician, just breaks my heart. It simply it isn't fair!
"I think it is too bad that this is being treated like a mini-Katrina," said Harry Reid, the Senate Minority Leader. "These people are just being stranded in Lebanon and that is not a good reaction by this government."

CNN makes me feel like throwing up.
Their Leftist junk supercedes any value they have in their reporting.
Just report the news, ask some questions... leave the interpretation and thought process to me.

CNN is currently airing pure propaganda for Hezbollah... stating that only civilians are being killed in Lebanon
The media in general tend to make me furious. Just try to picture, if you will, this kind of reporting during WWII. I mean, almost all of mainland Europe is under Hitler's regime. The US and Britain start bombing cities like Hamburg, Danzig, and Frankfort, even Berlin relentlessly. (Historical fact: 200,000 TONS of incendiary bombs were dropped on Hamburg in 1943, with over 50,000 INNOCENT CIVILIAN DEATHS--this just in Hamburg... in one year.)
Suddenly a CNN newsbreak:
(Photo: pretty little blue-eyed blond haired German children, battered, bruised, a few bleeding wounds, smear-faced, lined up with signs: "Save Us, Please!)... Americans take to the streets protesting the EVIL bombing of helpless innocent civilian populations. The NY Times starts rolling in a body count on a DAILY basis, bombarding the gullible masses, an antithesis of the military bombardments going on in Europe... under INTENSE pressure, the Senate and House pass resolutions DEMANDING the incessant bombing of civilians in Germany and/or Japan. ...
Scary to think how that war would've wound up.... personally I think all this media exploitation of human misery is just another extension of the voyeuristic mentality that has become the norm with the rise of reality TV. Make no mistake, this is a battle between forces of EVIL and others who simply want to be left alone... and under the guise of "objectivity" EVIL isn't being called exactly what it is---EVIL. Instead it's being masqueraded as "another perspective." Well it isn't "another perspective". It's a force hell bent on the complete annihilation of Israel, on genocide--call it whatever they want--they are EVIL. I hope to high Heaven Israel does whatever it takes, whatever is necessary to bring about the extinguishment of Hezbollah, and Hamas, and/or any other terrorist groups in that area, who see nothing wrong with deliberate targeting of civilians, medieval and barbaric methods such as beheadings, and whose ONLY aim, is the ultimate destruction of their country as a nation.

I am going to vent a bit, then I am done with this issue. I am tired of the tv stations pitying the poor people. They ask them how horrible the wait and everything was. Some were complaining that once they got on the boats, they were full of flies, etc. They were very uncomforable. I really think all the news medias lead them with these negative questions just wanting them to say things were bad. Can't anyone accept a free ride home and just keep their mouths shut on how bad the trip was? They went there on their own in the first place.

Now CNN is saying that Cyprus is making arrangements with hotels to put up thousands of people before they can get people out on flights. Are we going to pay for their hotels and food too?
