I'm kind of a new member here..and due to baggage from TWC message board..I am a little shy about posting..I know that my political and religious views are vastly different from the norm that post there and possibly here..got sick of getting slammed there and stopped posting anywhere for a long time..
So far, it's been okay here, although I really don't have an opinion on tropical weather except to hope it stays down there

Like Jen said above, I guess that is my official notice too.
Well, okay then. Point taken, memo read BUT before I go....
I think S2K's new name should be......
S2Kloo!
Good-bye everyone. It has been wonderful in its hey day. I've truly loved my time here, I am being very sincere when I say that, this has been a wonderful internet "home" for many years. But the same homey feel I once found here does not exist anymore. These antics - who said what, did you hear this, or that, you're banned, that's it, bla bla, basically what Regit so kindly took us down that Point A - Z road, the order or how opposing viewpoints go around here, yeah put me in that category please, I'm a proud Dem, for one example, never realized you ~should~ be a Rep to belong here, I mean truly belong, are all so high schoolish to me. I DID NOT play petty, cliquey (sp?) games girls played then and I'll be darned if I'll play them now.
This is who you get when you post or email with me now - brutal honesty. And Linda if you can't handle the truth here, well then yes please delete my account now. For the rest of you that are so very, very dear to my heart, I will always, always have a very special place in my heart for you all.
Chad and Marshall - it's been fun but you've got to clean house here!!!!!!
Goodbye everyone.
Sincerely,
Miss Mary
PS - Chad, do you remember how bad things got over at TWC boards right before Black Wednesday? And how you vowed S2K would never become like that? Well, needless to say I am very disappointed in the state of things here now. Not with you personally, you are among that group I hold dearly in my heart, but somewhere along the line here, the reason you created S2K has left the building! I am gone, don't worry but please, oh please do not let the board you and Marshall created become like TWC was back then! For the love of God man, don't let that happen.......
Oh Miss Mary, don't be run off. We are listening to everything that's being said in this thread and you should give us a chance before simply bailing. Much of the staff has posted that we are listening and taking these posts seriously, so please give it some thought. You are a valued member here.

lol, I was just thinking the same exact thing.MS39047 wrote: During "peak season" I'd be scared to death to post under the wrong topic or ask a question that may have already been asked 500 replies before and have the "thread police" step in with attitude.![]()
I felt that way this past season as well. 2005 was alot different and felt like I could step in and ask alot of questions that were answered in a friendly welcoming way and was not ignored. 2006 was not like that at all, I didn't post much at all in TT fourm sadly.
I have only been here about a year and a half and I can see a definite change since I joined. Some of the things wxmann_91 posted I have to agree with. Like having some casual chit chat in TT fourms during season, I mean I can understand completely why you guys had to stop some of the conversation, it was getting way out of hand, and some people ruined it for all. But I missed some of the joking and chit chat that happened in that forum the year before.
I love this board and the people here as well, but have noticed some change in the whole feeling I get when I come here now. I hope no one decides to leave and will hang in there for a bit longer.
I have to agree with this. I still love this board, but last year during what little bit of hurricane season there was actually activity, I felt that way about the posting rules too. I know it had to be done but it was quite hard to deal with.
and I hope no one leaves.

See, this is what we've been saying -- you don't always get to see what's happening, so it's a problem when people make assumptions about what was done, who said what, who banned who, etc.
There was a post made by a banned member (which wouldn't have been Miss Mary). Aquawind removed the post and banned the member (as per our policy concerning those who are banned and rejoin without permission. Yes, Dustin...we do give second chances.

Wel I'll post some of what's on my mind seeing that some have. I'm not very good with typing my thoughts out, they never seem to come out right when I do, but in a nutshell; I am a devout Roman Catholic and also a Constitutionalist..though a long time ago I was a Democrat and have voted Republican, but be that as it may sometimes I feel highly uncomfortable posting sometimes, maybe it was the way I was brought up, maybe it's because I don't watch TV, I get everything I need from the net (including MLB games lol)but anyway I do get feelings that I should not post things so I don't bother. Each board is different[ I moderate a few boards and I used to own an on-line chat server for 9 years, so I'm used to seeing all kinds of views and have also let the people post what they want as long as they didn't get tinto flame matches or curse fests, but here since it is not "one" of the boards that I moderate or own, I kinda watch what I say. Each board has it's own flavor and I do love coming here as the atmosphere is different from everywhere else. If I want to debate religion or talk about faith or the endtimes I do have places to go.
Membership here is diverse and we have to respect all opinions so I understand completely what certain things are taboo, though sometimes I have to tie myself down because something I see may rile me up, but I keep quiet and let it pass.
I hope this makes sense, like I said I'm not very good at expressing myself in the written word at times.

Somebody please do something to prevent/stop this meltdown. I can't think of any other website that has more insights, extensive commentary and analysis, and multiple posts during hurricane season than S2K. I don't want to be stuck getting my info from Joe Bastardi on Fox News. LOL.
I'm trying to be slightly humorous here but S2K is too valuable and I have learned too much here. Don't let it go.
Oh! one other point (since we're being entirely honest here and I read earlier that we are allowed to be right?) I have had no issues with the board at all and none with the chat for many years. There has only been 1 incident in all my time at S2K involving me that hurt me and I felt was uncalled for. It was during Isabel in 2003. I was in the chatroom and somebody in the evacuation zone had said that they weren't leaving and I said "I think you should leave." (as in leaving/evacuating the area in Virginia or wherever) BreinLA, the moderator at the time, jumped all over me and said "how dare you tell someone to leave this chatroom" when actually I was merely suggesting that they evacuate the storm zone. When I tried to correct her, she said "don't give me attitude" and got very hot-tempered.
That is 100% the truth and I am not omiting any facts. Is that fair behavior or reasonable? I'd say that's ill-considered to say the least. If other members have been treated that way and jumped on, I can see why S2K is in trouble.
Things were great after that though and I love the people in the chatroom now a lot but at the time, I was floored by that incident. Also, I remember someone sending me a private message in chat feeling that it was a bit too cliquely and hard for a newcomer to get noticed or something like that. I have never felt that way but perhaps it is a feeling that is out there.
As far as the politics goes, people shouldn't get so hot-collared about that. Passionate debate shouldn't turn into bitter recriminations. I can disagree without being disagreeable. Wish more people were the same.
