I had a great thanksgiving feast with my family in Valpo, IN. I then went to a friends house that I hadn't seen in a few years. Here is a picture of him and his boy (and me of course!).

Oh, I had to edit this post to brag....

A lot of you may not know this, but my nephew is the boy who was in Jerry McGuire and Stuart Little.

Here is a picture of him:

BTW: I am lying, my nephew just looks like him a bit. :D

Great pics, Jake!

Let it be known - I finally pulled out my winter
coat, today, December 1, 2004! Temps were
only in the high 40°s, today - supposed to be
in the upper 20°s, tonight. That stove is looking
better, all the time! One of my coworkers looked
at me like she didn't know me when I came in with
that coat on, today!

Good news on our home front. My father-in-law is home from the hospital and reasonably settled in. The somewhat new lifestyle, still in their own home thank goodness, will take some adjusting and getting used to, often difficult for people of thier age(86 and 87), but we are close by and will be working in having help come in on a regular basis also since we can't do it all. So please continue the prayers for them and us as we all adjust.

Past that all is on an "even keel" as much as it can be for the VB family.  Christmas tree is up and beautiful, cards are coming in and it is actually trying to stay coolish in the Houston area.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND ALL!!!

I can almost say the same thing except for the issues I've posted about elsewhere. I won't go into it here in this thread, but you can read my thread on moving in spring.

VB you guys are getting this cold air from us up here ya know. It got down to around 30 last night! Brrr...I was throwing on blankets during the sleep I managed to get(about 4 1/2 hours BTW). Another chilly night tonight. Also, I may have strained my wrist last night. Reason being I did some of my shopping last night. Only problem is, I did a little too much walking/rolling. Ouch. Today I will be relaxing. I wish I could go :fishing: this weekend, but it's too cold now and there won't be too many fish.

Make it a great Friday!

Hi y'all! Been a while since I sat by the stove! Just figured I'd come in and say hi while I have the chance! Starting tomorrow, I am moving into a bigger, better apartment with my boyfriend! So instead of living in Walcott, IA west of the QC, I'll be living in Eldridge, IA, which is just north of the QC. The best part is I'll only live about 5 minutes from my momma! :D

Also, on Monday I had my first doctor's appointment! Ok, so the blood drawing thing didn't kill me, but when I saw all the blood they took I did feel a little dizzy! And as for all the woman tests... I'll spare ya, but you women know how fun that was!! The best part was she was able to find my baby's heartbeat and I got to hear that for the first time! :D It was 160, so nice and healthy! Then later on, not at my doc's office, but at a place I'm going that gives parenting and birth classes, I got to have my first ultrasound!!!! It was absolutely incredible to see that teeny, tiny baby inside me!! It moved a hand, and kicked it's legs a bit, so all looked well on there! :D :D :D The heartbeat then was at 158.... hmmm wonder if that old wives tale is true! I've heard so many of them lately they make my head spin! But at any rate, the woman who did my ultrasound put me at 11 weeks, 6 days Monday, which was my EXACT calculation, which means June 21 is probably right on the money for my due date!! Yay!!

Well, like I said, I'm gonna be moving, so I should probably get back to work on my packing! Take care everyone! :D

Lots of exciting changes for ya, Jacki. You'll find after the baby comes, you'll be wanting your momma around a whole lot. That's great that she'll be so close by. Good luck with the move.
Did they give you pics of the ultrasound? That would be cool if you could post them.

It has been rather cool here today in the Atlanta area.

I just came from outside and my muscles are kind of numb. Not a bitter cold, but a "my body isn't used to this cold yet" kind of cold.

I am growing too used to the Atlanta area.

Hey Eric! How are you, bro? I trust you are doing well! :D

Yes, it showed in the low 50's I believe, maybe it was 40's I don't remember.

All I know is that my bride was really cold. Maybe I should do a better job at keeping her warm

Good MORNING!

WOW....has it REALLY been that LONG since I've stopped by the PBS? Holy Cow!

I've been remiss in posting here, don't know WHY? ANYWAY....looks like I've missed a WHOLE lot  David, Brother....glad your father in law is doing better. Jake, good seeing you Brother  Promise, I'll stop by your website SOON, which BTW, I need the link again, I lost it!

There's been SO much going on in my life, school, the new job with Pinetop Lakeside Police Dept, blah, blah, blah, plus the holidays....I swear, if there were 48 hours in a DAY, it STILL wouldn't be enough. OH...plus ALL the searches I've not mentioned, with people coming up from Phoenix to cut Christmas trees, cross country skiing....I swear, don't people pay ATTENTION anymore?

AH WELL.....can't stay but just a second, got things to do! Take care dear friends and PRAY for MORE snow for us would ya, "PLEASE?" LOL!

Right now, someone stop me from pounding my head through a brick wall. We have to write 4 essay outlines by monday (for our resource econ exam) and I am completely LOST! Well, in doubt in by the warning track in left field. It is all econ policy and he is trying to place econ and the environment together.... I don't think like that!! We really haven't covered the information in that specific question and I have a feeling that I may turn in this exam with very little writing (I've handed a quiz in blank before). I was warned to be 'nice' to the professor (that is how bad I hate this class!!!!!) I tore him and the class apart in the CCQ's handed out at the end of the semester. (Class evals)

Two things in life that I absolutely cannot stand: Government and Econ! (goodness, I haven't balanced my check book since late august) I dont' even look at my monthly bank statements... I shred them immediately.

Shannon, I wish I had some words of wisdom for you other than ... 1. yes, do be nice to your professor. You'll be glad you did, and ... 2. Girl, stop shredding those bank statements!

Shannon,

I'll give you the same advice I received from one of my professors, and am passing down to Coppertop..."ATF", or "Appease The Fool"; i.e., give him what HE wants to hear, but keep your own counsel intact. This way, you get the sheepskin, and THEN tell him where he can get off. :larrow:

I call this "Dr. Delgado's Dictum", after the prof who gave me this gem of wisdom.

Hi everyone, it's good to hear everyone's slices of their lives. I should stop in here more often.

Here's my christmas newsletter:
-We got our xmas tree up and started shopping in earnest.
-My wife gets her gallbladder out on the 23rd. Yes 2 days before xmas!
-I got my paypal account up and running. Paid for 2 ebay purchases w/o a hitch.
-I took enough vacation days to be off from the 23rd to Jan 2nd! All the same days that the kids are off school. We are supposed to be getting an xmas bonus this year. I'm feeling like Clark Griswold on that issue.
-Our second car is disabled again - This time it's bad. There's a serious knocking from the top of the engine - At best it will need a valve job. I should just shoot it and put it out of it's misery.

Bill: Everyone should listen to you about the professor thing.
Pojo: hang in there. This WILL come to an end.
Dennis: I know the feeling about 48 hours in a day. Makes the time fly by for sure.
Jacki: If I haven't said it before - CONGRATULATIONS!
VBHoutex: You're doing a good job with your F.I.L. Glad it's going OK.
Annette: At 40F, I'm still wearing shorts and t-shirts.
Jake: Nice Pics.

And for everyone else: Have a great, happy, and holy Christmas!!

I keep the statements for about a month... and most likely, I don't even look at them... I'll usually check out my account info online. I can't believe I'm talking about econ!

This test is annoying, the professor is no help. Oh joy! I'll have to BS my way through the resource econ exam... the heck if I know any of this stuff.

Well, my family and I are stuck home - level 3 emergency in Cincinnati, from this snowstorm! We were stuck home yesterday too when it all started. So now I'm trying to talk them into having xmas today. Why not?!! I could open my Dallas (seasons 1 and 2) DVD early....come on family!!!

They're not buying it.....so I guess I'll start the cookie baking.

But I can hear that Dallas theme playing in my head (FYI, we don't have Soapnet, so I have not seen a Dallas episode, except for on vacations, in YEARS).

Ed, I wish your wife well with her surgery. I had my GB out too, but with other major surgeries at the time. But I'm told the simple, 4 incision laporscopic GB surgery method, is much easier to recover from (as opposed to a big incision).
