Is anyone watching American Idol???

Just a quick question guys.. Do u believe she'd be getting this much hype or publicity if she was on a different show? {IE survivor or if she was like an actress on Desperate Housewives or ER, or Greys' Anatomy or any of these other shows}..

Just another angle of this story of this young lady

I was just thinking about this myself. In my opinion, it's two-sized. Had she been on another "reality" show, yeah, she probably would get as much attention--only because she's young. Had she been older... not so much. I base that off of the one girl from Survivor who had a sex tape leaked. It was hardly talked about.

Had she been an established actress on ER, etc., it probably wouldn't get as much attention, but that attention would last forever. Look at Sylvester Stallone--he still gets comments from his early days.

As for Antonella... as soon as she leaves American Idol, the attention will quickly fade. Unfortunately, her image is tarnished for life. Her family will always remember. Anytime she applies for a job, it will come up. (Ooh... you were that one girl from American Idol! Before you know, these images of her will begin circulating around the office...)

Well... I guess VH1 has a new person for their "Surreal Life" series...

If Antonella was older.. or even if she was in the adult business.. She wouldn't be getting attention. But because shes only 20.. and since she's on American Idol.. she's going to be chastized and ripped until she either gets DQ'd or voted off Idol..

At 20 years old.. Girls are active in a discreet manner.. but when u photograph it.. or take sexually laced photos in a place that well.. isn't meant for it.. You deserve to pay the consequence if 1 is warranted. Her consequence would be to be dq'd or voted off Idol..

I don't know if senor is talking about me or if he's read any AI forums where a lot of people are really getting nasty about her, but I don't think I've said anything I shouldn't have. What she does in her private life is none of my business. When she's on a show such as this, where kids watch and look up to these people (perhaps they shouldn't, but AI advertises itself as a family show and it IS called American IDOL), and her private life becomes public and we all see her lewd behavior, it kinda becomes all our business then. We didn't ask to know all this, but we do now. I just think she needs to go!

And senor, I'm not a male in my 20's I see her as quite trashy.

What she should do, is bow out. JMO. I can't imagine her having to get up there and try to sing in front of millions of people after she knows this is all out there. AI will get rid of her, either by DQ'ing her or trying to keep it somewhat hush hush for the average viewer who doesn't know about it, by making sure she gets voted off. It's not like she's really good enough to win it all anyway.

SG, I'm not talking about you. And I wasn't specifically talking about Storm2k, either. My comments were directed in a general scope. Yes, I've read some of the AI forums, and I cannot believe the horrible things being said. If Antonella was MY daughter, I'd be more upset with these random folks talking about my daughter than over her actions. (and trust me... I definitely wouldn't be going easy on her.)

And once again, I completely agree with her leaving. She simply does not meet the image of American Idol because of these acts. I wouldn't want my children watching her with this being public knowledge.

I'm just saying that I don't feel she should be ridiculed so harshly. Yes, it was very tacky.


Let me flip it this way. Say you (or anyone for that matter) decided to go on some reality show. Some things you did in the past (for instance the private showing of "affection") were leaked out onto the internet. You're just trying to lead your life and these tacky events from your past come back to haunt you. Now you have all these people calling you "pornographic scum" and other non-family-appropriate terms. It's a little harsh, don't you think?

Maybe she should just move on to the singing aspect of the show instead of continuing to dredge up these harsh comments about her. Or maybe I'm just misunderstood and this world is more saintly than I thought it was.

I agree that one shouldn't take this type of photos. If Pamela Anderson and Paris Hilton have taught us ANYTHING... it should be to keep the camera out of the bedroom.

But, with that said, yeah... she's 20. She's of legal age. Everything in those photos (except for the drinking) is legal.

How do you know what her intentions were in front of that War Memorial? Maybe she should contact Playboy? That should fit her style.

Linda, that's why I said she SHOULD leave American Idol. I completely agree with y'all on that. It's a family show. What I DON'T agree with is all the harsh remarks about her.

As for her intentions... how do YOU know what her intentions were? Instead of quickly judging her as some Playboy-crazed stuff star, we should get to know her and the story better.

That's my whole point here. Everyone is tossing out these harsh words and nobody knows the story. She could be just a misguide teen who was victimized by her friends or whoever. But instead, people quickly call her horrible, nasty things.

Senor, I do get your point. But, in the best interest of kids everywhere, she needs to either gracefully bow out (if there is such a thing in her case) or let the show DQ her or have her voted off. Regardless of her "poor pitiful I wanna lead a decent life now" attitude, she did it and no one did it but her. I guess it is easy to blame others for your actions, when the truth is to accept responsibility for your own actions. No one twisted her arm I am sure to have photos taken. I tell you one darn thing, no one is going to tell me what to do. If I get caught up in a bad scene, I have no one to blame but myself.

That's why you will NEVER see me on a reality show. And I have never done anything even remotely close to what she's done. Not at all. But see... I wouldn't even want pictures of me partying or anything like that being pasted all over the internet and on the news for my parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc. to see. She knew she had taken the pictures and they were out there somewhere. She obviously didn't anticipate this, but in this day and age of the digital and cyber world, she should have realized that it was a possibility and either decided not to audition for AI, or go ahead and take that chance. I don't see how it couldn't have crossed her mind that this was possible though. So yeah, I do think you have to think about these things before you put yourself in that position.... no pun intended.

POINT PLEASANT, N.J. - A close friend of “American Idol” semi-finalist Antonella Barba says that the aspiring singer is not the subject of some graphically sexual pictures purported to be of her that were posted on the Internet last week.

The pictures include one of four women posing topless at the beach, their hands covering their breasts, and others of a woman engaged in a sexual act. The postings were anonymous.

Barba’s best friend, Amanda Coluccio of Holmdel, with whom she auditioned and won a trip to Hollywood for the second round before being eliminated, told The Star-Ledger of Newark that the less graphic photos are of Barba, but denied she is pictured in the pornographic ones.

Yeah, I saw that earlier. Some are saying it isn't her and others are saying it is. But like I mentioned yesterday, many people are more outraged that she posted half-nude, partially nude, whatever you call that, at the World War 2 Memorial. Intentionally being disgraceful or not, it was.

Btw, her friend is the snotty dingbat that was with her in Hollywood on AI...the one who said that her and Antonella "don't flirt with boys here. We can have all the boys we want back at home, believe me," and then the show proceeded to show several clips of her flirting with boys the night before. That was in response to Baylie Brown being upset when she was cut because she had worked so hard and didn't stay up all night flirting. She was snotty to Baylie during group practice, saying that if she helped Baylie with her part, it would mess her up. Then when she made it through and Baylie didn't, she said, "Because God likes good people."

Guys did a great job last night. I usually have it narrowed down to one or two guys by this time but I can't make up my mind!! I really like Chris Sligh and Chris Richardson but I also like Blake and Phil.

I think AJ, Brandon and especially Sanjaya should go. Sanjaya will probably be one of those really bad ones that hangs on till the end and no one knows why. So far his voice sounds really, really weak.
