Forecast for upper 50s here today and possibly a gusty thunderstorm or two this afternoon with some hail.

Special Weather Statement

Statement as of 6:05 AM EST on March 05, 2005

... Strong gusty winds and hail possible across central North Carolina
today...

A vigorous upper level storm system will approach central North
Carolina today... and cross the region tonight. This weather system
will trigger scattered to numerous showers today across central North
Carolina. A few thunderstorms are also possible. The strength and
orientation of the winds aloft across central North Carolina suggest
that the heavier showers and thunderstorms will be capable of
producing wind gusts up to 50 mph. In addition.. the air aloft is
cold enough to allow hail to develop and grow.

While widespread severe weather is not anticipated at this
time... wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph will likely accompany the
heavier showers and storms with isolated gusts near 50 mph possible.
While these wind gusts are below severe criteria... they are strong
enough to down tree branches... a few power lines... and possibly a few
trees.

Currently... it appears that the best potential for strong gusty
winds associated with the convection across central North Carolina
will occur between 10 am and 6 PM.

Emergency management officials and local storm spotter groups
should closely monitor the latest forecasts and statements from
the National Weather Service.

Reached 70 today but was EXTREMELY windy. Gusts over 40 mph were common. Otherwise, it was a nice day.

Mild and windy today with a high near 70F...tonight from midnight to about 8 am though could see some potentially severe t-storms with wind damage and hail being a primary threat!

I am over in Moses Lake visiting my mom, and currently its clear and we are expecting a record high of 72 today 8-) For those not familar with where Moses Lake is relative to where I live in Stanwood, its 230 miles south and east of Stanwood (stanwood being 1hr north of seattle near puget sound) Moses lake is east of the Cascade mountains, and its a totally different climate. Much more desert like and flatter. This state is amazing for the fact that we have several different climates. We have the coast, we have the Olympic rain forest, we have the temperate climate of the puget sound, we have the cascade mountains, then we have eastern wa that is desert like.
