Hi everyone...

Wow, you think those electric bills are high? I got mine recently from 12/30 through 1/29 and it was $200.85!! :o Way down here in the south. The one before that was $188.05. What's a girl to do? We had a cold January for us, but my gosh, it shouldn't be so much higher than the ones up north! And we tried not to run the heater that much...we used the fireplace a lot. I don't get it. Maybe it's just our company, Entergy overcharging us! :( There's plenty of people on here from SE Texas...what does your electric bill look like? My house isn't small, but it's not huge either. :?

Anyway, the rain has stopped here and I am just now getting a peek at the sun. We didn't get any severe weather but we did get a few thunderstorms. Rain gauge only measured an inch of rain...hardly the several inches that was predicted.

Holy crap southern! lol Now our oil bills are pretty high, but we're also paying almost double from last year alone. In the last 3 months we've filled up twice and our furnace runs almost non-stop...even with fires raging in the fireplace. A $400 and a $300 bill so far....next fill up should be in the next few weeks....dreading another payment. Thank God for warmer days!

I paid $184 on my electric bill. But my gas bill is at the minimum since I use electric heaters in the house. Been fortunate that it's been a warm winter here since in a cold one (like 96-97 or in January 2002) when we see lots of temperatures in the low to mid teens the electric bill will be well over $200. I may live in Southern Arizona, but it's not Banana Country here where I live.

Pretty cold here as I speak....sitting on -3 currently and I'm off on the side for the night. Hope to see everyone back here...same bat time...same bat station. Stay safe and watch those storms down south.

I added another log to the fire this evening since everyone else seems to be away. Maybe I should add another just in case.

It has been a busy week for me and tonight I vegged online! Woo hoo! I am proud that I have no life ;) .

Everyone have a great Sunday.

Looks like more rain coming my way midweek.

Night!

"No life"? Coming from my perspective (24/7/365 at home) this IS a "life"!

Ship's poogle Annabelle chowing down aft of me on deck, here on the good ship "Bootheel", Arrgghh! All but one of the crew adrift in sleep below decks; me gunner's mate phil-me-up at the tube watching a vampire DVD, Arrgghh! :o

Cloudy and temps dropping like rain on the place beneath; wintry mix warnings out for all day Sunday; "Going out on the roads could be life-threatening", so they sez, Arrgghh! (They ain't counting on a NoDak driver!)

Yeah streetsoldier, but I don't think they treat the roads in MO the way they do in NoDak. At least that's what I've found here in SoIN. The philosophy seems to be, "hey, it'll melt sometime".

Sleet's a pounding on the windows here and looks like I'll be missing church in the AM.

Stay safe and warm, gang. Goodnight!

You're right; the best way to park your car in Fargo is to plow it into the nearest snowbank, then pull out your oil-pan heater cord and dig for an outlet (those are located everywhere).

Six feet of snow? Nah...it's flurries up there. Two INCHES of the white stuff here, and they close the town!

As to electric bills...Sikeston has its own power company, and our January/early February bill was $70.44.

Good evening everyone. I had to repair my comp today too after it almost crashed on me this morning. Luckily it is up and running again - for now. I dread turning it off and on again in the morning.

The weather here was cool (chilly by my standards) and overcast today. It didn't get much above 60 all day. There is a 20% chance of rain or showers overnight tonight and tomorrow (morning at least), then it will clear out for a few days.

My event got cancelled unfortunately because of all of the rain that we had a few days ago. So I had to freeze my rear off while waiting for the bus and go home. :(

It was also laundry night for me tonight. In fact, the laundry still isn't done. So as soon as I post this, I gotta go get the next load. See ya! Joshua

Joshua, you turn your computer off every day? I used to and I understand it is better for the system not to turn it on and off frequently, even every day.... if you use it every day.

With fast speed internet service/cable modem... you are always on, so it makes sense when you are online often (even short times everyday) to set the power management for your monitor and hard drive for several minutes.

My Windows XP by DELL is on 24/7, even when we have all logged off...it does save $ by not turning it on and off every night.

Even nickels mount up...

Thought I would drop in for a minute ...

After 78 yesterday, temperatures today will continue to fall through the 40's and heavy rain will move in to nearby Charleston, SC today ...

Sorry about not dropping in sooner or as much but it's been a busy time.

Morning everyone...looks like we are in the midst of yet another Meteorologist's dream system in the winter time! This storm complex shadows the 1983 Blizzard and even the 93/96 events! Took awhile to arrive and has tapped GOM bigtime. As I eluded to in another post.....this thing is over 1000 miles long and will be a slow mover due to the huge High parked north of me.

Just think, the Atlantic hasnt even produced the secondary Low and bring that up the coast as well. While original thoughts here were for a dusting to an inch for the 1st part (we got zip!), this second thay said 1-3". Well, they are terribly wrong! Now local Mets and also national ones agree that this indeed could boast up to 3 FEET!!!

Someone will get upwards of 36" and I'm betting its anywhere from SE of DC up into NJ. Stay Tuned! I'm all over this thing and will be posting maps, snowfall totals and reports from this entire line over under the USA Weather threads.

Dont be a stranger....this involves tens of millions of people, and you know when a storm of this magnitude is along the coast like this will be tomorrow....we're in for a long 2 days! This could be the heaviest snowfall DC EVER sees...in history and may rival other past huge storms. This is nothing to mess with for sure. I'll be busy here and watching for as long as possible. Take care and stay safe!

Morning everyone!

Rob...does sound like a doozy.

Streetsoldier... I didn't mean it like that. I meant that most teenagers are out and about cruising, partying, etc. and I spent the evening in front of the computer posting and listening to the Grand Ole Opry online. Most of my friends would say, "Man! You have no life." But I do...they just don't understand. hahaha!

Snowing here this morning. Don't know where that came from. They weren't calling for it. The ground is white so we will see what happens if it continues to snow.

Hey Rob...

And do you know where DC's mayor is?

Williams Vacations in Sunny Puerto Rico
Updated: Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003 - 10:33 AM EST.

(WASHINGTON) -- City employees are working round the clock and top officials are on call at all hours as the District prepares for what could be a huge snowstorm.

So where is Mayor Tony Williams?

He is vacationing in Puerto Rico, where it is sunny and 80 degrees.

Williams' predecessor, Marion Barry, also drew criticism for being out of town during snow emergencies.

Williams spokesman Tony Bullock says even people in public office have a right to go out of town with their families.

He also says the mayor is confident in the Department of Transportation, the Department of Public Works and their snow removal teams.

Good morning, folks! Rob, sounds like I need to put another log on the fire, eh? That storm is certainly getting everyone's attention. It's still raining here, but less than it was, as I have noticed the pools of water
in my front lawn are receding.

Josh, I hope you got your laundry done - mine is still waiting on me! :ggreen:

Southerngale, you were all talking about your electric bills - I dug mine
out - my electric was $47.76 and my gas was $97.78. I figured it would be more, but, I try my best to keep things turned off and turned down!
I'm scoochin' up to the stove with a cup of Earl Grey! Ya'll northerners be careful and stay warm with all of the snow and sleet and such. Drop by the stove and keep us posted!
