TV Alert: Desperate Housewives premieres tonite!

You're gonna kill me but I swear I don't think I got that football joke. So maybe you can walk me thru it. I am now going to edit that timer once again, starting recording at 8:58! Grrrrrr......
Okay, I'm done now and can comment on the show.
First off - Susan! She is looney!!! We are to believe, according to promo's, she didn't realize she doesn't have health insurance before? Come on now...she has a teenage daughter. Doesn't Julie need a prescription for something? And Susan, for her dingy pill meds? LOL Ouch, sorry but I think Teri Hatcher is so pretty, I'm glad her almost washed up career was resurrected, but her character is just too much, to be believeable.
Lynette will always be my favorite, the most grounded of all. Just when you wanted to wring her neck when she's trying to keep Tom from working again, she realizes she needs to let him do this. And finally asks for his forgiveness. She's a little too corporate world for me, but when home, a hands on mom. FH pulls off this role perfectly I might add.
So Gabby will agree to a baby now....well isn't that all goochy-gooey? Ugh!!! Maybe they do wonders with her character? Hoping she gets stuck with a colicky baby or something, to bring her back down to reality.
That Betty Applewhite....wow, don't mess with that lady! Unless of course you're Bree.
But one final comment, if a neighbor puts up newspaper in a window I would think that's a bit odd. Usually it's a tacked up sheet, until you buy curtains or blinds. But newspaper? It was only a matter of time before ever so perfect Bree saw the comics in the window!

The opening was Karl and Edie together. Edie's watching a movie, and then Karl grabs the remote and says there's a football game on. He turns it, so after a minute of fighting and trying to get him away from the TV, she says she's going upstairs. She comes back in a sexy outfit and finally gets Karl away from the TV. Ties him up, asks if he wants whipped cream, goes back down, turns on her movie, and eats the whipped cream.

I saw that!!! Geez, thought you meant a commercial airing just before DH started. Okay, I'll admit it, it completely sailed over my head.....LOL
Brent - you're gonna lose patience with me at this rate.....oops! LOL
That was a funny scene with Edie tying Karl up. Typical though.......men and their remotes! And football, don't get me started.....

I did notice her heels - the nuns that taught me for 12 years did NOT wear heels!!! They wore those orthopedic, black shoes, with the black soles. Strange....this is DH ya know....

Desperate Housewives
Anyone who's been complaining about this show not being as good as it was last season (and you know you're out there) simply needed to watch tonight's episode, because, boy, did it kick butt! So many watercooler moments, where do I start? Definitely Alfre Woodard's best episode yet. Betty showing up on Bree's doorstep right before the other housewives came over was classic. How perfect for Betty to blackmail Bree — what a great way to shut her up! Loved the looks on all the women's faces when Betty walked out of Bree's kitchen. Earlier, I loved when Bree looked up and saw Caleb gazing out the window. Speaking of Caleb, the actor now playing the role, Nashawn Kearse, is doing a fantastic job. It's not an easy task to play a character who is mentally challenged. Just ask Rosie O'Donnell. Even earlier, the funniest line was Bree to her daughter: "Danielle, question: Is there a black man hiding under your bed?" Then there was Susan, who was so glad Dr. Ron wouldn't be her doctor anymore and she'll start "getting some" soon. How about Edie tying up Karl so she could watch her movie? Desperate housewife indeed. Although I live for the show's funny moments, I enjoy the serious moments even more, especially Lynette and Tom's scene at the kitchen table. Felicity Huffman showed us exactly why she gets all the nominations and awards. Lynette saying "And what I really need from you is to be forgiven" gave me chills. But back to the funny. Glad the girl fight between Gabrielle and Sister Mary didn't disappoint. Totally reminded me of the Alexis-Crystal fights on Dynasty. Beautiful scene when Gabby told Carlos she wants to have his baby. (Shameless plug: Speaking of Sister Mary, you can see Melinda Page Hamilton when she guests on tonight's TV Watercooler at 8 pm/ET on TV Guide Channel.) — Dave Anderson

alicia-w wrote:ok, i finally watched this show and i'm sorry. i just dont get it. i dont understand the attraction and i wont watch it again.
After asking me and finding out what my plans were for Sunday night, a couple of people at work said, "I guess I should watch tonight and find out what the fuss is about." I advised them against it because I couldn't imagine tuning in now and understanding what is going on. I told them that they'd do better to watch the first season on DVD then catch the second season on DVD this summer and then start watching regular broadcasts next season (if they wanted to devote that much time to catching up and if they got hooked by watching the first few episodes). The first episode was, without a doubt, the hook and the first scene, the bait.
I can understand your lack of interest now. I guess it's kind of like Lost for me. I have tried but can't gather enough from just watching one or two eps to understand the show or get dragged in enough to care to watch more.
Without seeing the mystery from the start and gathering the early clues and understanding where everyone fits in, it isn't easy and not very appealing. Unlike a lot of dramas or comedies, these two series are hard to just tune in, watch, and understand.

Alicia - I just read online they're bring Magnum PI to the big screen! Probably won't be the same w/o Tom Selleck though...

I like DH enough but Lost is my #1 show thesedays......I'll admit, either you like it or not. Lost and DH are just not shows you can watch occasionally. You need to watch each week, otherwise you're Lost....or Desperate.....LOL!!! Can't believe I just typed that. LOL

LOL!
Yeah, DH isn't a show you can just start watching mid-season and "get it". It also may not be your cup of tea(I know some people who don't like it either). I actually started watching about 7 episodes into last season and was lucky to actually get hooked. For weeks though certain plots didn't make sense.

My daughter Laura thinks DH is just too bizarre for her. She says no one seems normal on that street. This is when I'm about to say Lynette is the most normal of the bunch and that's about the time she brings in a rat, to demonstrate to Tom he needs to clean the house.
She's my Lost buddy, just not my Desperate Housewives buddy.....all alone there, in this household!

When I check TV Guide online listings it said repeat. I'll go see which one it is.
That's fine with me, I'd like to watch that new 9/11 related movie anyway, Flight 93 on A & E.
*Edit - Desperate Housewives is a repeat. It's titled The Sun Won't Set, when Susan's mom and Morty get married. And Susan finds out about her bio dad.
If you're a Grey's Anatomy fan, it's new, not a repeat. I thought if DH was a rerun, the rest of the lineup would be. Wrong!

It's a repeat. Caleb is the intruder(remember when he got loose?) at the end of tonight, Mike catches him and the closing scene is of him in a police car with Betty telling him to be quiet.

Yeah - I keep waiting for Sam to find out Abby's pregnant with Luka's child and that they're baby crib shopping. Then a rerun airs so at this rate I'll miss that episode. At some point Abby's gonna show and you'd think Luka would have done the decent thing by telling Sam first before the ER rumor mill gets a hold of that story.
