More GLP madness, sorry, but I just had to post this:

Quote from Anonymous 374325:
Ah Ha!

here ya go - this is the plan.

eclipse gets one demographic of people out of the house to watch. Satellite shoot down gets another demographic out of the house. The only people left are the ones glued to the tv or too apathetic to care. The people who are outside watching are somehow turned into zombies or blinded a la craptastic 80's movies "Night of the Comet" or "Day of the Triffids"!!!

To me there are two reasons to destroy the satellite. The first is to ensure that no large pieces reach the ground and cause potential risk to people down below (and also to prevent anyone from retrieving the pieces). The second is more political-to show the PRC and the Putinist government in Russia that the US has the ASAT capability as well (remember that the Chinese have already tested their ASAT against one of their dead birds). Actually this will not be a shoot down in the classical sense just breaking the satellite up into smaller pieces so that they will all burn up on reentry.

When's the shot actually going to take place? If it's not that late GMT I may stay up, since I'm not at college till 3pm tomorrow.

First Opportunity at 10:30 PM EST

They have just a 10-second window to fire, a Pentagon official said, and may not be able to take their shot on their first opportunity at 10:30 p.m. ET Wednesday (6:30 a.m. GMT Thursday).

WOW, a 10-second window. :double:

FWIW, news tonight says the weather looks like a non-factor.

See the Satellite track here.If you see that the stream goes around 10:30 PM EST,it may mean that they shot it down.

The satellite just crossed the equator and is currently far to the SW of Hawaii.
