think the explanantion is rather simple. Woman are doing it because they know the men like it.
I'm too tired to scan the other replies so hopefully this wasn't said.
A lot of bi curiousity from females comes from having failure and bad experiences with men, and believe me, almost all women have either failure or bad experiences with men, so obviously/naturally they either become depressed and or want to try to find something new, so they consider bisexuality or even lesbianism.

teenagers, especially females in general have a tough time coping with problems/failures/bad experiences.
I think the problem is some kids are too quiet or keep their problems to themselves, and some end up cutting themselves, hurting themselves, loosing self esteem, gaining weight, loosing weight, becoming gay-not naturally but on purpose, getting depressed, getting very angry, etc.
I think more teenagers should be open to their friends about problems and try to work it out.
Okay, most kids do not want to go to their parents with personal problems UNLESS they have a good relationship with them. Alternate choice, talk with friends! It's a lot better then the things I listed above!
But yes, some females do become bi or lesbians to impress or make guys happy. It's kind of sick in a way, but also it's kind of a natural fetish thing, and surprisingly, I've talked with many girls and quite a few are actually turned on by 2 males together or 2 males kissing.
The whole thing is very odd, but it has to do with teenage confusion, changes, hormones, etc.
Lesbianism in the media is just a fad and will fade SOMEWHAT, but as long as guys like 2 girls getting at it, there will always be some girls kissing for fun.
