My mom cooked the same 7 meals each week, on the same weeknight even. Meatloaf one night, fried chicken another, and so forth.
I grew up eating just 7 meals, carrying out a pizza or coney's oh about 4 times - a year!
Yes, I barely had tasted anything until I was 17 (my parents split then and my dad took over our meals, which changed to fresh farm produce, steaks from the butcher, fresh bakery products, etc.).
So it's really hard to me to just flat out disregard a restaurant or dish. Although Carraba's made me so sick (see my earlier post on this thread).
As I read thru the many replies here, I wonder if some of our distains for certain foods (such as Chinese) were formed in our childhoods?
My husband grew up eating different types of foods, cuisines, etc. He said his dad did the cooking at least once a week and he often made Banana's Foster. He said that was nothing out of the ordinary for their family. My mom's idea of a dessert was a frozen apple pie!

Love it locations:
I love Carabbas, but then again, I put garlic on my eggs
Longhorn is one of my favorites - but I only order the chicken ( so why do I go to a steak house???)
Arby's gets some of my hard earned money every week. ( Addicted to horsey sauce).
Never agains:
I can't stand Olive Garden ( bland, boring, and over priced).
Can't stand Chilli's. ( Food is acceptable but the place is always louder than most rock concerts).
McDonalds and Burger King - same old same old - why pay for a thin tasteless hamburger and greasy fried potatoes?
Number one on my never again list is Denny's. Ugh, hack, gag, yuck, ewwwwwwwwwwwww!
Bad service, horrid food, dirty - and that has applied to every Denny's I've tried over the years up and down the I-95 corridor. Never again!

I cannot really think of too many that I hate. I do think however, that the Outback Steakhouse is over rated. I have been their maybe a half dozen times, but not in the past few years. Too pricy and the steak was always full of fat and never cooked the way I asked. Could just be the one in my town, but I have gotten much better food at inexpensive local mom and pop diners than I ever have at the Outback.
