A lot of people here in LA eat some things that would make other cringe, such as crawfish, hoghead cheese, boudin, etc. A lot of these stories just don't bother me because while sometimes it is because of a dirty place, other times, it is just an unfortunate situation. Hey it happens. I've had a fly land in my pot of soup and not niticed it right away. I will still visit Ruby Tuesday's, they have the most amazing ribs on the planet, but I do think they should investigate about how the mouse got there. Let's not forget the finger at Wendy's. How much business did Wendy's lose from that? Hmmm

I have no doubt the mouse came in with the lettuce, however than in NO way excuses a restaurant from liability. They are ultimately responsible for what ends up on the customers plate.
Now....let me reflect on my dinner last night. Hot dogs --- also know as lips and ***holes.

Hey, if a mouse is good enough for a snake or an owl, it's good enough for me.
All these things are found in nature, so it's not like they're deadly poison or anything. I see all the disqusting things that dogs do and eat. They're systems are essentially the same as ours......

I was a cook for 16 years in a busy Italian restaurant; part of my job was slicing lettuce in the morning. Many times id find stuff in the lettuce that wasnt supposed to be there; there was one memorable time when I didnt. Even the owner said there was no way I could have detected what was found in there. The supplier caught hell though, not so sure what he could have done either. At any rate we did switch suppliers and NEVER had a problem again. When u are dealing with produce you can NEVER be too careful...you must check for signs of infestation upon reciept and while preparing it.
BTW Im sure you are wondering what was found in the lettuce. It was a worm..and it ended up in a judges salad

That is enough to make me ill for the rest of the day! And Ruby Tuesdays was one of my favorite restarants. Even though we don't have them in our town. I have to drive an hour away to either Baton Rouge or New Orleans to go to one. No telling what goes on behind closed doors at eating places. Workers they don't wear gloves touching your food that may not even washed their hands after going to the bathroom. And workers that don't wear hair nets.

They have been obsolved (actually--they have obsolved themselves). Apparently they have security cameras that prove that nobody put the mouse in the salad at the bar. They do not have video of the action at the accusers table. The mouse had no lettuce in its stomache, and they found no evidence of mouse belongings in the lettuce bag.
So...you can draw conclusions as you see fit. They want to call this a prank. I ask myself; did somebody do this to him? I say that is unlikely since most people get their salad, sit down and eat it, therefore there would not have been a chance for a prankster to drop the rat on his plate. So...the other choice is he planted it himself, picked up a nice big forkful of lettuce and rat, stuffed it his mouth and gagged all over the table.
I'd have to say at this point, its a 50/50 chance he did it, or it came in with the lettuce.
I believe the FDA is doing its own investigation.

Oh my, y'all are too much LOL....
I'm one of those who loves steak still mooin', as I call it - med. rare please
Anything more is show leather IMO...
MGC - you cracked me up with the worm and the tequila bottles...I know people like that too which is the scary thing LOL
I have read "The Jungle" and I swore I wouldn't eat for weeks afterwards, but I did, of course...good book though - a must read if you haven't read it before.
I'm sure that there are plenty of critters roaming in the grocery stores at the end of the night. Where do you think the term "Party Animal" came from? I mean, they're sittin' pretty - all the beer, wine, and food they can have! LOL In all seriousness, I know that you're supposed to clean off the top of an aluminum drink can before you drink it because of the droppings that can be found there. I must admit, I do wipe it off, especially if I"m drinking straight out of the can.
