I've been reading this board all day and I'm positive that Lake Effect did not mean to offend anyone or to say that Jessica is not a hero. I believe her original statement was meant more as a question not as an attack on Jesica. I think people are being a little sensitive, with good cause, because of the nature of the subject. I would like people to think of one thing. What about ALL the people that have been injured and ALL that have been killed. These people have given to all of Us just as much as Jesica but I don't hear anything on the news or see funeral services for these brave individuals. No. All I hear about is Jesica. I think it's about time the other Vets are given there due. They certainly deserve it as does Jesica.

Good points firefighter. In every war or conflict there is usually one person that grabs the attention of the media. In this case Jessica is is the one who caught our imagination. A small town girl trying to improve herself and get an education, caught in a terrible situation and yet coming through it. What could be more of an American story? Let's not forget the others but at the same time Jessica deserves every bit of attention she gets! They all deserve this kind of attention but that's just not reality! Through here story though more people will understand just what our vets put on the line every day they put on the uniform! :-)

God Bless Them All! :-)

Streetsoldier,
We were just disucssing the Shrine hospitals and them breaking policy to help Jessica. We were at my Shrine Unit meeting, and the subject was brought up. I hope someone follows through with it, and checks into the possibility.

Thanks for bringing it up, Jeff!

I'm not "knocking" the Army's med-surgical staff, but as you and I both know, the Shriner's Hospitals have been in the forefront of breakthroughs in othopoedics and neuroskeletal reconstruction since 1924; if anyone has the expertise to look at Jessi's injuries, they do.

I hope that the Imperial Divan does investigate this possibilty; she deserves the very best! :D

Bill,
I understand completely. The best should take a chance at it.

I don't know if a eMail to the Imperial Divan is in order or not. I may have to ponder this some.

I do not believe that this thread was started with the intent of not honoring all American heroes. It was started to honor Jessica Lynch on the day that everyone was celebrating her homecoming.

All the people rambling about all they hear about is Jessica Lynch, then as a woman I am offended. Women serve in the military too and do not get the recognition they deserve. And I also believe this is exactly why she was given the attention by the media.

Well said Lindaloo!!
This thread was began to celebrate Jessi Lynch recieving her medals, and even better...standing (with aid of a walker). I was so thrilled to see her photo...see her smiling and feeling better; instead of that photo of her being rescued on April 1st...obviously badly injured and looking frightened and confused.

I never intended it to become a debate of whether or not Jessica is a hero. She is definitely a hero...anyone that can't see that is IMHO totally clueless or has another agenda (i.e.- anti-war or anti-Bush).

Ok. Sorry. Just seeing "no subject" and "..." for every posts scares me. Thanks for clarifying.
