I'd be careful with the word 'they'. It implies that every member of the Cuban Florida community has something to do with organized crime, violent tendencies and causing riots.

Even though I agree with you that a death should never be celebrated, most of them have a good reason to hate Fidel.

Can someone explain the Cuban Floridian community to me? How can they plan major celebrations for a death! I mean it is just plain wrong. Even when Saddam was excuted, the response was somber by the west. A death should never be treated in this fashion.

I guess the connections that a lot of that community has to organized crime might explain it. Also, they tend to have violent tendencies. When a decision was made in 1999 that they disagreed with, they caused a major riot in Miami.

Look, I'm not one of those "Long live Fidel and long live the revolution!" fanatics and no one can truthfully deny that Mr. Castro has done some pretty bad stuff during his time in power. To be a political opponent of his regime and live in Cuba is to risk imprisonment and worse. But as I think was mentioned earlier, Cuba has very good health care and education systems, among other things.

Also, the regime he overthrew was terrible. People, all I ask is that you do a bit of research on the history of Cuba before spouting off at the mouth (keyboard) so quickly.

Likewise, many in Cuba have had their babies grow up to be grown men and women, which they never could have under Batista, and I have seen dissidents with their faces blacked out and their voices changed proclaim their opposition to Castro and yet still define themselves as revolutionaries in his mold.

Do not expect Cuba to go back to 1960.

Castro has a lot against him, but many things for him. The world is difficult like that. Furthermore as an American citizen, I really should not have to be fearful what that exile community would do (though I am, because they have tried to assassinate members of their own community that broke with party line), I have a right to express my opinion.
