I'm so sorry, Frick. I've been so busy today, I didn't even see your messages earlier. :( My prayers are with you and the rest of your family. He gave so much - please make sure everyone knows that he did not die in vain. We are so very grateful for his sacrifice, but I know that isn't very comforting right now. He was a very special person to put his life on the line for all of us. May he sit and talk with Jesus now.

Call me if you need anything!

CM, I am sorry to hear this.

Hopefully this poem I found brings some temporary peace.

I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
to laugh, to love, to work or play;
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things too I will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I’ve savored much.
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me,
I’m with God now, I’ve been set free.

As a fellow soldier... it is hard to hear about soldiers paying the ultimate sacrifice. I still remember when I worked on a Human Remains transfer... Love is extremely important and we don't know when our time will come. Unfortunately, we take life forgranted.............

Rest In Peace Fellow Soldier.

Mark will be buried Monday morning with full military honors. I was reading about military funerals. Did you know that members of NOAA can have a military funeral?

Is anyone else eligible to receive funeral honors?
Yes. Members of the Commissioned Officer Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), as members of a Uniformed Service, are also eligible to receive funeral honors.
