New "LOST" thread

I liked this episode alot. Did everyone notice that was Boone's voice on the other end of the radio? Also I heard Mr. Eko's stick is an important clue on the island. Did anyone notice what he was carving into it? This was probably my most favorite episode this season. It actually explained a lot of things that were bothering me. Oh man but I knew Goodwin was the "plant"!!! They are always trying to misdirect us.

canelaw - thanks for clearing that up.
So Eko's (we're spelling it incorrectly apparently, LOL) stick is iimportant. I'll pay closer attention.
JQ - can you expand upon Goodwin being the plant? I don't follow......
I didn't realize that was Boone either! That might be one episode we're missing. We were missing 7 when Season 2 started (b/c ABC skipped them in the re-air this past summer). I kept trying to determine who that was - thinking raft maybe, Sawyer? But it would have been earlier in the timeframe, so yes of course it is Boone. Excellent catch there JQ! Sunny - are we slipping or what? LOL
All I know is I just love this show. Definitely more than Desperate Housewives (which I still watch but everything seems to stop around my house when Lost starts up, that phone better not ring!).

PS - here's a link for the Lost board I read sometimes again, there are always posts that grab my attention:

One member pointed out the dead body Eko and Jin encounter a while back was Goodwin. Maybe this is what you meant JQ. Jin thought the others killed him. Eko didn't elaborate. Heck, for all we know he may not realize Ana killed him!

Either I've been painting too long today (fumes getting to me) OR I have this show on the brain too much....LOL
Either way, this thought occurred to me:
What if the 'others' are nocturnal? Meaning they walk the night. I'm not sure if they're vampires but they have taken people at night or scared people (Claire's nightmares), the children, taking Walt, etc. I'm trying to remember if Claire and Charlie went missing after sundown. I do recall Ethan attacking Claire, when she was set up at night, with Jack, Sayid, Locke and Sawyer watching. That was definitely night-time. But my theory has flaws. Goodwin was with Ana, in broad daylight when she killed him. She kept wanting to know why he went into the jungle, alone for 2 hours before that.
What started me thinking this is JQ's comment about Eko's stick. It is carved into a sharp point, correct? And Ana stabbed Goodwin thru the heart. Ethan was shot many times by Charlie, one could have struck his heart. This is where I wondered if they were vampires......
Strange things do seem to happen at night.
If I were this group, I'd sleep during the day, with a few guarding camp and reverse this strategy for night-time. Most awake, for safety, and those that stayed awake during the day, would get to sleep, watched by the plane survivors.
Back to painting and more wacky ideas.....

I wondered if Goodwin or that Nathan, were Desmond's former partner.......I need to do some back checking too Sunny.
Desmond seemed quite safe in there all this time. So he doesn't fit into this vampire theory of mine.
Haven't quite forgotten him but you know he's going to show up again.

Just found this on tvguide.com
NEW LOST CASTAWAYS FOUND: Wow, just as we get up to speed on Ana-Lucia and the other "tailies," it turns out there are a couple more Lost castaways to meet. ABC is close to making a deal with a major U.S. cell phone carrier to produce "Lost Video Diaries," original mobile video content centered on two of the front-of-plane survivors who have been toiling quietly in the background this whole time. (I always figured they had lousy publicists.) The episodes, about 20 in all and several minutes each, will be shot next month in Hawaii, to be available on phones in early 2006.

I loved last night's episode as well!!! I found Libby to be a fun character. The part about the broken leg was so intense. Goodwin was the "plant" meaning he was the one sent by the others to infiltrate the tailies just like Ethan was "planted" into the middlies.
Last night started to answer several questions for me, too. I've thought all along the bunker that Ana and the tailies were in was beyond the wall of concrete that Jack and Sayid found.
I still don't think Ana Lucia shot Shannon. And I hope that we find the flight attendant. She had a cool accent.
I can't wait.

From TV Guide's Watercooler column.......meant to post it yesterday.....I am addicted to this show and reading reviews like this, b/c it's so confusing but intriguing at the same time. I'm glad to know there are other Lost fans here at Storm2K too!

Flashing back to a plane crash? Must be sweeps. But I did love how they recaptured the chaos and confusion of the landing that the pilot episode had. Kudos to the directors: If you can make me feel dizzy without me getting all Blair Witch nauseous, that's impressive work. I was, however, completely grossed out by the broken leg and Libby resetting it. Couldn’t help but wonder if that poor guy would have lived had he landed on the other side of the island with Jack. But the tailies clearly had a lot more encounters with the "Others" or "Them" than our other castaways. Sure, Ethan abducted Claire, and there was always that creepy monster to contend with, but when the Others can invade your camp to take your strongest members and all your kids, that's not good. Not to mention that they completely destroyed any hope the survivors had of hiding by getting Goodwin to make all nicey-nicey with Ana-Lucia. Those are some truly bad guys, especially Goodwin, who mercilessly snapped poor Josh Randall's neck in the middle of the woods. (On a random note: Which Ed cast member do we think will show up next, since we've already had Josh and Julie Bowen? My money's on Molly.) Now I know I've said some unkind things about Ana along the way, and while I still don’t like her attitude, I do admire her survival skills and her willingness to protect her newfound tribe. She seemed to know a lot about that Army knife and she put clues together about bad guys, so perhaps her eventual backstory will show where she learned these tricks of the trade. That is if she survives long enough to get a backstory. The look on Sayid's face when she shot Shannon wasn't exactly all nice-to-meet-you-neighbor. I wonder if he’ll get a chance to try out some of those nasty torture techniques that he used on Sawyer last year. Hmm… one can hope. Anyway, did anyone else think it was really creepy to hear the other end of the Boone radio transmission? Oh, and thoughts on what the upward-pointing arrow on the other shelter's Dharma logo was? It seemed to be some sort of directional signal like a compass, but how does that relate to the swan logo in the hatch? Also, we know that some of the kids must still be alive because we saw the boy with the teddy bear — who arrived onshore with his unconscious sister — walking in the woods. But why are the Others so obsessed with kids? Ah, another intense week, another batch of unanswered questions. God, I love this show. — Angel Cohn

A friend of mine told me about this theory he came across on another forum. It's very technical and detailed, but whoever this guy is may be on to something. This could be potentially spoiler-y, so be warned of that if you choose to read it. Here's the link.

This past episode (which we finally watched last night) was a good one...and it did help to fill in many gaps. And, as most of you have pointed out, it also raises a whole new set of questions and possibilities.
A show like this, with so many open-ended questions and still more to come, could literally plant the seed for a number of seasons.
For example, the entire underground bunker issue has taken a backseat to character development again. The white bear-like beasts have never been explained. How the pilot was killed and left hanging so high in a tree. Power for the radio transmitter...where does it come from. And then the whole story of the others, why the interest in the children, and we certainly have to expect that sometime a plane will fly over or a ship will approach the islands giving them a ray of hope.
Mix all that in with the big questions about how all the relationships will be going and whether or not Hurley will ever find a way to lose weight on an isolated island, and you have all kinds of opportunities for this to continue for seasons beyond this one.

Steve - you're so right. The writers have given us numerous storylines and possibilities. But here's what I discovered - you either like Lost, or I should say almost to the point of addiction (Laura and I are addicted, seriously) or you don't get it, so you dismiss it. I'll ask people do you watch Lost? Either I receive - YEAH, love that show..... Or, oh ~that~ show, the group stranded on an island but it's really sci-fi? I just sigh and think - another person that doesn't get it. LOL
We slip into Lost lingo around here, which drives my husband from the room. Laura will just walk up to me and start up - you know, here's what I think......Jim is paying close attention, until he hears words such as "polar bear", "bunker", "Jack", "Desmond", or the biggie? "Others"!!!!! And he sighs once again, leaving the room.
We just howl when this happens. If I didn't have a Lost buddy in the house I don't know what I'd do!!!
