I totally agree, all it has caused is havoc with overruns week after week, and last week we got cheated. In all the past seasons the top 5 sang two songs each, instead they only did one, took a commercial before anyone even sang, and STILL ran over!!!!!!! Saw this on MJ's blog about this week:
According to Top Idol, who has a source in Los Angeles, there will be a twist for next week’s Top 4–when Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Danny Gokey and Kris Allen take the stage, they will not only be singing solos, but also perform in duets. Guess the producers are trying to get around the time constraints while offering the viewing public more than 4 performances in an hour-long show.
This week, the contestants WILL BE doing TWO songs, however…in another twist differentiating this season’s Top 4 show from previous ones, American Idol will be taking inspiration all those international editions of Idol…
The Top 4 will not only be performing solo renditions of classic rock songs from the 1970s and 80s…the even number means there will be also be DUET performances.
While I like the idea I don't understand why we can't get 8 performances in an hour(again, 10 happened in past seasons at top 5!)... whoever thought of having a 4th judge needs to be fired, it has caused a mess.
