Not really an "Idol" watcher, but has any male winner of the show gone on to do anything?

I can think of Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson. Both women. I know some white haired guy won last year, and I think I remember a guy with a weight problem winning.

IMHO, as sort of an outside observer, teenage girls voting for cute guys while more talented women get ignored.

ETA: Jennifer Hudson didn't win, and I still recall that name...

I like the way Danny made fun of himself about the screechy high note.

I was sorry to see Allison go.

Paula, Paula, Paula-------------you are far more entertaining as a judge.

There have been 3 male winners. Ruben in Season 2, Taylor in Seasons 5, and David Cook last year. Cook is clearly the most successful of the three, but he's also the most recent and familiar one, so that plays into it as well. Ruben and Taylor are barely known anymore(both are from Alabama BTW). Kelly, Carrie, and Fantasia are definitely a lot more well known. Jennifer Hudson has won an Academy Award, Oscar, and Grammy. Of the male non-winners Daughtry is definitely the most successful.

Allison got robbed...... My personal opinion is that Adam is the only one of the three left that looks to be commercially viable.

Adam will win American Idol. Alison's voters should easily stream into Adam's fan base because they are close stylistically. I really like Kris's style and will buy his album when it comes out, but he will likely go home next week. I won't watch the Danny/Adam finale. Danny is not even in the same league as Adam. He shouldn't be there.

I think that Kris has the "cutesy" factor that would make him commercially viable too - if he got the right songs. I do think that based on Tuesday's performance, it should have been Danny that was eliminated just because of "Dream On". I did like Kris's version of "Come Together" and I think that Allison could've chosen another Janis Joplin tune, but it was still good. She and Adam rocked the house with "Slow Ride". I do hope that she gets a record deal because she has an awesome rock voice. She does remind me of Kelly and I think that she could do very well.

I think that Danny could be like Elliot Yamin. Good voice, does not have "rock" or "pop" star looks but if they get the right music, they could be good as well.

Each one of those four are so different. They could each be in a separate music genre.

Adam - 'nuff said. Can you imagine if he did cut a song with Slash or someone like that?

Danny -- Dance little Sister - Never liked him . .. this hasn't changed my mind . .. NEXT. .

Kris -- I liked it . .. . . missed some notes, but didn't annoy the crap outta me like Danny

Adam -- mmm over did it . . .to the point that I didn't like it. .

*plays fieldrunners 'cause the judges are annoying me with praise of Adam*

Danny -- voice is cracking on the lower notes

*decides that I am going watch Lost live, instead of Idol tomorrow*

Kris -- totally bleeping awesome. . .

Adam -- . . .. .

*flips the channel to avoid the annoyance of the judges' reactions. . .*

It wasn't bad - I think that Paula was on the right track with the type of song for Danny.

"Apologize" for Kris - good song choice for him. Suits his style well. He just doesn't have a strong voice. It seemed like he was searching for the range that he felt comfortable to sing in.

I feel bad though that he's being told to take "creative license" with a song and then he'll be hung out to dry for doing it. SIMON IS RIGHT. That was a cop-out by Kara and Randy.

Did you notice that Kara tries to imitate Paula at every chance she gets?

YES!!! "ONE" by U2 for Adam!! OMG! I wish I could hear the whole song song by him. "One" is the type of song that you build up to the end. There's not enough time allotted to do that with this song. The cut could've been done differently perhaps.

SHUT UP Kara!

Yeah, the judges are pimping Adam, but IMHO, there really isn't any contest. They will all do well in their own specific music genre.

For the first time in the entire competition, Adam hit a couple of off notes. Why didn't they mention that? This competition is rigged for Adam. Adam is extremely talented and probably should win, but the way they are "pimping" him is just beyond pathetic.

I have come to the realization I don't like any of the three very much. Last year I was a huge David Cook fan long before now, this year it's just BLAH! and tonight is blah... I actually found of the three performances Danny's to be the best? In what universe? LOL Adam's was definitely not as good as they said. So far the highlight for me was the fight between Kara and Simon after Kris's song, and the "second base" stuff with Paula and Simon. :P Why are they airing this Idol Gives Back filler when it took the first half of the show to do the first three songs? They are going to badly run over again. They could save that for tomorrow.

I'm really getting sick of this Adam pimping.

Second songs:

Danny really good again. :double:

Kris was awesome!

YAY for running over... AGAIN!

Adam was once again not as good as they said.

Danny - "You Are So Beautiful" that was gorgeous! Bravo!

Kris - great arrangement. "Heartless" didn't need any other instrument other than the guitar. Great job!

Yes Adam - DO A ROCK ALBUM!! Much better than "One". It wasn't one of his better nights. He needed another one out of the ballpark.

I thought last night was amazing and really liked all the performances.
Adam is definitely the best.

Danny has always been my second choice. I love his voice.

Kris should go home but I don't think he will. His voice is the weakest. Let's see if people mention his bad high notes like they did Danny's last week. LOL

Now that I have had a chance to watch the performances I must agree with you Karan. Danny hasn't always been my second choice, but he has consistently been one of the better performers. It will be interesting to see if Adam makes the final or not. He should and he should win it all, but who knows with the way voting goes with this show?

Last night was very good. I thought all of them were AI material last night. Simon's lobbying was cool, and probably needed. Seems like all the judges were leaning last night.

I don't think he did. Adam is defintely the best and people do feel that he will probably win so they don't vote for him. I think the ones who complain about Simon's actions also complain about Chris being voted off too early.
I think Simon was just trying to keep that very same thing from happening with Adam.

I really have no clue who's going tonight. I think it's fairly safe to assume Adam will make it to the finals(though you never know with this show), but I think it's a total tossup between Danny and Kris for the 2nd spot. I actually based on last night would prefer to see Kris stay over Danny(DialIdol has all three in danger with Adam ahead and Kris narrowly ahead of Danny), but I really missed Allison last night. It just was not as good as I thought it would be.

I know that Simon Cowell has reminding the voters in the past that you need to vote and not assume that a person will automatically win (or not get voted off). Chris Daughtry is one shocking example, but Tamyra Gray was the first shock. I don't recall Simon saying to specifically vote for Adam, but my whole take on his comment was that you can't assume anything, that there is no lock and that the voters need to vote for the person that they think belongs in the final. I took it mostly as a reminder and that Simon was admitting that last night's final performances made it a real competition.

I do think that Adam is the best. I also think that he has the best voice and is the most versatile. I'm going to be on eggshells tonight waiting for the results.
