Eric, sometimes members don't want others to know we are online. I use it sometimes. It means more, if you will, if there are more than one or two members hidden.

I still don't understand how this will affect anyone but the gay people that want to be married? It doesn't affect me so why can't they get married?

Well, this is the first time I've been on this thread since earlier today when there was only a handful or so of posts on the first page so it certainly wasn't me deleting them. Just wanted to let ya'll know...now back to reading this thread. ;)

I've been following this very controversial topic since yesterday. I'm confused about the deleted posts as you all are too......don't have time to figure that one out though.

JQ - you said just about what I was going to say! That's why I decided to quote your post. Same sex marriages do NOT bother me either. I first try my very best not to judge others (that's up to God, ya know, ;-) ), but if I had to name one criteria IMO that's very important to me, it would be that you have to be a good person, first and foremost for my endorsement/approval. The rest, really doesn't bother me at all - race, religion, gay/straight, etc. Being a good person DOES matter to me. And I try to respect everyone, unless you cross that line and become a bad person or do bad things. Hope that makes sense.

Johnathan, my friend, I'm going to echo Linda here too - (((Hugs))).

Mary

PS - Dennis - ouch! Sure hope you feel better today!

LMAO! J you are too funny!

and guess what? Bill Oreilly stole my line last night on the Factor (sort of).
Bill said in an "argument" with some Mass. Lawyer I believe, "Ok, so I want to marry my duck...is that ok?"

Jonathan...allthough my line, as well as OReilly's was "tongue in cheek", they do illustrate the absurdity of this whole ruling using absurdity. Of course, nobody in their right mind will want to marry a duck....but like I said...that door has been opened to "extreme" lifestyles, of which your's by choice or not, definitely falls under that umbrella. The radical changes happening across are country go right to the core values we have lived by for centurys. There are exponentially more people wanting to continue to keep those core values intact, then there are those wanting to disintegrate them.

Please don't take my comments as personal attacks..they are not. I am more upset with the way the Courts are making decisions these days that are not consistent with the majority rule.

ok i just looked at this post and now for my 2 cents worth. WHO CARES if 2 gay ppl want to get married. this is there life. we can not judge them or tell them what todo. the government is running to much of our life. god will judge each one of us and who is to say he is against it or for it. the bible is hard reading and i dont understand half of it. i have a saying, what ever floats ur boat. i have several friends who r gay in fla and the sweetest and best ppl u ever want to meet. i know god will bless them.

And just why not???

In regards to the deletions -- there were three posts (that I know of) that were deleted. I first posted a reply to MSCoast about her questioning OtherHD about his "shoving the Bible" in her face. I said it was a probably a simple misunderstanding because his comment was satirical and not an attack on her. And then I also thanked Kami and Lyle for their support. Then Kami replied that she got it now and that she just misunderstood him. But when I refreshed page 3 of the thread and read her reply, I noticed that my post was gone. So her reply was attached to her own post. Then a mere couple of seconds later. Her post was gone also. I commented about it, then Lyle commented about one of his posts being deleted. And by then, we were all stumped and a bit peeved.

For the record, there was nothing in the content or the language of the posts to warrant deletion. No one missed a fight or anything like that. I'm clueless about why in the world they were deleted.

just a fact rainband. the welfare state of the early 60' destroyed the black family, and made the male irrelevant. check the facts. through the 50's, out of wedlock pregnancy rates were almost identical between blacks and whites. also, black and white males were incarcerated at almost an identical rate. liberals, who supposedlt care so much for blacks, destroyed the black family, just a fact. the worst thing that happened was paying single women to have babies.

What in the WORLD are you talking about?? You're talking about out of wedlock pregnancy and same sex marriage at the same time and it makes absolutely NO sense to me whatsoever. Doesn't marriage counterbalance the whole "out of wedlock" thing?

A gay marriage may not fit the biblical description of a marriage, but if two people of the same sex want to get married, I have no problem with it. It is between the couple and God whether it is truly recognized as a marriage. It may be, it may not be. But it is not for me to judge.

It isn't like we want to be the way we may be. I am Catholic and do not think that an organization should "literally force" someone to not live "differently."

I have to keep my thoughts to myself on the issue here with my parents, twofold... being the way I am and what this particular issue deals with.

Jonathan, what do gay couples stand to gain by being able to be married?
