Goody! I see cards are finding their way to everyone
. I love Christmas cards too...it's especially special to exchange them with online friends...you get to see them in real ink instead of type...lol.
Yeah Mary...I won...hee hee
Can't wait to see your family picture. Maybe next year thats what we'll do! How do you get everyone in the family to have the right look in the same frame? lol
Second batch of cards went out yesterday.
Josh, email me your address, yours will get there quickly!
Have fun shopping everyone...25 days left to shop!
ALSO...Happy END of Hurricane season 2004! Thank God this one is over.

Got mine too!! Thanks Fur!! I may not even get cards out this year with family medical probs taking center stage right now(in-laws). I love to get cards and I love to send them but sometimes other things are more important. Know that if you send me one and I don't send one back it is not a slight on you, just other things we're worrying about a little more. BTW, feel free to pm or email me if you need my snail mail.

Furry.....we started doing an all family photo card about 10 years ago. Our best one I think, is still the very first one. Took everyone by surprise! It all started with the kids Elementary's Gift Wrap fundraiser.....insert photo xmas cards were available. I ordered enough packs to mail to everyone on our list. Then for the actual pic....now that was hard. Jim said we should all be in it, most of the ones we got were of people's children only (not that there's anything wrong with that). We were coming back from church one Sunday in early December. A surprise 2 inch snowfall had fallen the night before. Several blocks from home was an historic home turned into a heritage center facility (renting it out for small receptions or parties). A new gazebo was on the grounds, so we stood inside it with snow on the rails and floor. A pine tree behind it was filled with snow too. We couldn't have planned that backdrop better, had we tried. We were all dressed up in our reds for Christmas anyway. Jim grabbed the tripod, I grabbed the real pointsettia off the dining room table. And out the door we went. Took about 8 pics and we were done. I'd send you a link for this card but it was taken the old fashioned way - on a 35 mm camera! Friends of ours have entire family pics taken too but go thru at least one roll of film each year, they're envious it only takes a dozen pics or less to catch everyone smiling. If it's an inside shot, remember to close other doors, put away that folded basket of laundry. In some I can see things in the background no one else would. And Jim never tells me - hey that stack of junk shows! Could clobber him for that. This year it's the piano lamp, we hurriedly put on a couch nearby. He was going to photoshop it out but said he can't. Men. So when you get it, look for it. Yes, I put lamps on couches all the time....he he. Forget trying to choose one from a vacation - someone is always looking pretty grungy on vacation! That never works for us. Then we got Hope almost 5 years ago. She HAS to be in every Christmas card pic - it's a tradition. So vacation pics would be out, she's at the kennel then. And oh, now I look at scenes or places and say - perfect family pic backdrop! There's a church nearby with a nice landscaped area out back - trails, creek, bridge, tables for picnics. I always say that should be our next spot (standing on the bridge, after a snowfall, of course!)! But now that our girls are older, it's usually hurry up, take this picture. The dog has to sit still for about 10 minutes. We still take about 8 to 10. But digitally now, so you can see the results right away. And now the cards are printed at Jim's office, no more gift wrap insert cards (which are sold just about everywhere now).
Since you like your cards done early, start thinking of spots in your home early next November. Even haul out some of your holiday decorations, for a backdrop. That's what we do some years if we've got our act together. Then I just put it back on a basement shelf, since it's coming out in a few weeks anyway.
One year a friend gave us a holiday type photo album to hold a dozen pictures. She intended it for our annual family photo pictures, since it's a tradition. Have I rounded them all up though and filled that album? Oh no! I should though....LOL

You guys! It's not unheard of you know...lol My ex mom in law got me started on getting things done early, because I used to wait so long on my cards, I'd just never send them, and she said I was sooo disorganized! So, I am constantly striving to be better organized....we decorate before TG, because we love the warm feel of the dining room with Christmas trees and all in it for our Thanksgiving dinner...it makes it more festive for us...plus I hate the color orange, so my Christmas centerpiece works much better for me! Red compliments me better than orange anyway, so why submit myself to pictures that will last a lifetime when orange looks so bad on/near me...lol every hostess must think of these things! All kidding aside, I just love Christmas, its always been a very happy time for me, so why not kick start the season early, and hope that my Christmas joy and spirit spreads into other homes as well!
