No thanks...I don't enjoy being humiliated in public that badly

I'm afraid to even play a round of putt-putt golf against my niece...and she's eight

Interesting developments since this morning
She is doing great on the course, and really held her own today. You go girls!
As for the men protesting a women who can play some really good golf.... :8:

Ah, spandex, I love a man in spandex because they're usually cyclists - bicycle racers - who are in great shape and wear those shorts because they have padded butts & parts which save the jewels from bicycle seat murder. As a race photographer, I have lots of photos of guys in spandex  :ggreen: and Wahooo, they're all studs. Sorry boys, this is 2003 and we don't walk 20 paces behind anymore. A partnership of equals is always more fun than a boring dominant/submissive deal. :Fade-color

Besides, a little estrogen does wonders for all those "putters" out there...

I realize she received an excemption for this weekend to play on the PGA. but if she was to play on a regular basis she should have to go through qualifying like all the other golfers and get her card. As for men on the LPGA,I believe they have it in their bylaws that someone has to be born a female to play on their tour.

I did watch her play yesterday, she played very well, was always left with longer second shots than her playing partners, but was always putting for birdie usually closer ones than the two guys she was with.

I think it's funny that men only establishments get attacked but women only ones are ok. Why is that? If NOW wants equality then why don't they protest the women only clubs and groups? ;-)

While I agree that Annika played well yesterday, I don't believe that she can compete successfully on the PGA tour. The courses are getting longer and longer and she just doesn't have the leagth off of the tee on the longer courses. She picked the Colonial for her "debut" for a good reason. It one of the shorter layouts on the tour.

I asked my wife last night if she thought it would be ok if Tiger Woods could play on the LPGA? I mean fair is fair I said....but the truth is..not really. He would win every single week...we all know that now don't we.

I just think the tours are better off being seperate, for the sake of competiveness.

Well this story is over. Annika didn't make the cut. She beat 11 men but didn't play very well on Friday. Back to the LPGA for her.

Gotta agree with you there!

We are definately at a point where we know that men, women, black, white, Protestant, Catholics, Jews, etc. are equals because we're HUMAN BEINGS, but there is something POSITIVE in being an individual. There is absolutely no reason why each of the above couldn't have their own clubs, groups, etc. without feeling like they are being discriminatory against others.

Great points, Stephanie.

Not only in sports, but here at Storm2K, we are all very unique. I truly believe the members here see that with each other. At the very least those of us who post here the most frequent; including members that stay in only a couple forums (such as this one ["Off Topic"] and "Tropics") that do not have 500 posts yet.

Golf

Back to the Tournament issue, again - - follow the money. Men's sports is ALWAYS more highly compensated and the purse's are ALWAYS larger than for women's tournaments or sporting events. Who wouldn't want to play in the men's league for higher $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$?? It's the same way in cycling actually - the Tour de France is the 'men's race' and the Tour de Feminine is the 'women's race.' I bet that all of you didn't know there was a separate Tour de France for women - except for Coriolis and Derek Ortt who know about cycling.... It's not equal til the cash is equal and the coverage is equal. If that cannot be attained, combine them!

Sorry for going off topic a bit, M2... there was some conjunction to this thread, of course-- I was responding to Stephanie's post, after all. Thank you. :)

This point was brought up earlier but apparantly it is being ignored. The PGA IS NOT a men's league. It is for all professional golfers. So the questioned being raised here is for not. She is not playing in the Men's league, she was playing in the professional league.

Golf Again

#79 Postby M2 » Sat May 24, 2003 1:59 pm

That's correct Blizzard - for ALL golfers. Another point to consider: why would a man want to play in the LPGA when the purse is lower, below that of the PGA anyway? Everything is not = on both sides of the equation, to use a math analysis...
