Let me guess though...Natalie and the rest of her semi naked band support our troops.

I wouldn't know, because I never heard them mention "the troops". Criticism of the president does not equate to criticism of the troops. Neither does wanting the troops to be brough home, or disagreeing with the way the war's been executed by the command structure. I think they've botched it all horribly, but I have several close friends over there who I support fully, along with teh rest of them. It's the leadership that's made the mistakes, not the guys at the bottom.

Why do I have to support a war just because the President engages in it? If the President invades the United Kingdom tomorrow, which he could, and American soldiers were killing British soldiers, and American bombs were falling on London, would I be a traitor if I called his action wrong, unconstitutional (war powers are congress' and I don't care for legal mumbo jumbo making it constitutional without amendment) and would I be unpatriotic? No, I think I would be a patriot. Because bad policy should be treated with intellect instead of emotions. Emotions will get you nowhere but further from reason.

Yes I know the above scenario wouldn't happen. I know the war on Iraq had some meager justification. Much more than attacking the UK. Nevertheless, if you say it is unpatriotic to criticize policy, then policy can do whatever it pleases, and policy in America is led by one man. ONE MAN. Not a god, not a saint, not even an execptionally bright individual. Just a dude.

And I see no reason why being the head of state elevates him to a position of respect. He is the President, but he is not Augustus, he is not exhalted. He's just another American. One who has got the job of leader of the executive branch, and should be heavily scrutinized in everything he does. The bar of our behavior is not raised on account of him, but rather the bar of his behavior and our expectation of him is raised.
