I don't know about your area but down here, the ER IS the Health Care facility for illegals. They have been well schooled in how to get free health care from our system before they come here and use it to the max. This is why hospitals all over the SW US are having to reduce services to US Citizens because they are losing money taking care of illegals. How do you tell an illegal from a legal alien? Ask them for their entry permit which they should have on them at all times until they get their Green Card. An illegal won't have such documentation. Also, if you REALLY want to know what's happening with regard to this issue I suggest that you come to the southern border region and live there for a while and watch your place get trashed every night. Personally, if I could afford to do so at this time I would move to Mexico-no need to worry about illegals there and my money would certainly go farther. As for the question about taxes, just who in the **** do you think IS paying for all of the free services and education illegals get? The Man in the Moon? A goodly percentage of illegals are paid under the table by the employers who do so to avoid little details such as FICA and Income Tax witholding-which in itself is illegal as hell and they should be imprisoned on that alone-also, illegals are exploited big time-some are even in indentured servitude or even slavery (which is against the US Constitution) because they did not come here legally. By securing the Borders and then establishing a Guest Worker Program (in that order) which has proper guarantees then we can go a long way to solve this problem but giving amnesty to those here illegally and insulting those who came here legally and the rest of the US citizenry is NOT going to do good at all for it will result in resentment against those receiving the amnesty and quite possibly violence against them (something those in power should think about). The business interests that support the Republicans want the cheap labor while the Big Unions are salivating at the prospect of organizing 12 million amnesty granted illegals to boost their membership while giving the Democrats a bunch of cheap votes from those who get a free ride to citizenship without having to go through the routine legal immigrants do.

Hmmm...so if they turn out to be "illegal," does that mean their right to assemble (as provided/guaranteed for U.S. CITIZENS under the 1st Amendment), for all intents and purposes, does not "legally" exist?
Interesting...unfortunately, I believe LA is one of those exclusive migrant zones where law enforment authorities are prohibited from inferring one's immigration status.

interesting point USCG....because that would also mean they shouldn't be allowed to talk either (also in the 1st Amendment)USCG_Hurricane_Watcher wrote:Hmmm...so if they turn out to be "illegal," does that mean their right to assemble (as provided/guaranteed for U.S. CITIZENS under the 1st Amendment), for all intents and purposes, does not "legally" exist?

Because they have no proof that they are here legally which you get when you enter the Country legally. The city of Costa Mesa has decided to no longer be a Sanctuary city. We have a couple of Sanctuary cities in AZ (Chandler and Mesa are two) but the trend in AZ recently has been to make AZ less hospitable towards illegals from the Governor, who is deploying Guard troops along the Border to a series of bills being passed by the Legislature. The idea is to get rid of illegals here and send them elsewhere in the Country so that those who don't think there's a problem can deal with them. As far as Uncle Stupid is concerned, he can't be trusted to do right by us.

Well, the massive march tomorrow should be interesting.....
n Phoenix, police said 10,000 demonstrators marched to the office of Republican Sen. Jon Kyl, co-sponsor of a bill that would give illegal immigrants up to five years to leave the country. The turnout clogged a major thoroughfare.
Thousands of people across the country protested Friday against legislation cracking down on illegal immigrants,
"They're here for the American Dream," said Malissa Greer, 29, who joined a crowd estimated by police to be at least 10,000 strong. "God created all of us. He's not a God of the United States. He's a God of the world."
Congress is considering bills that would make it a felony to be illegally in the United States, impose new penalties on employers who hire illegal immigrants and erect fences along one-third of the U.S.-Mexican border. The proposals have angered many Hispanics.

What if you were walking down the street, and someone asked you for proof of citizenship? What would you show them? Do you want to live in a coutnry where you have to produce your papers on request at any time?

Being in the US legally and being of US citizenship are two different things. Don't confuse these.
Furthermore, when a person carries his/her driver's license, valid ID, or visa, this is that proof of legal status.

Yes, but if you sya you're a citizen, then how do you prove your statement? if an "illegal" claimes ot be a citizen, who's to prove otherwise? If a cop wer eot ask me for proof of reisdence or citizenship, I'd tell him to take a hike which is within my rights.

But as of right now, there is no legal requirement in any state to carry ID.

I wonder, how exactly do they plan on doing that? How will they determien who is "illegal" and who is not?
I don't know how they will do it. I'll tell ya, since Katrina it is not hard to spot them. We are a small town and they flocked in here.

That's pushing the argument a bit. I doubt any one of us could show our proof of citizenship or of being in the country legally at any given time. Heck, if I'm at the beach, I obviously am not going to have my ID in my swimsuit or with my beach towel. I'd probably have it safe in my car.
The point is that most of us who are citizens, or those who are visiting here legally because they went through the proper channels, can provide some sort of proof of that, one way or another, even if they have to say, "I have it in my car (house, hotel room, locker, whatever)."
